so people "happy" with today.... you think 20 points is enough to beat Miami next Sunday? I don't....

Yeah mac’s mobility imo is pretty underrated. He has turned many first downs with his legs. Arm strength could be better but its not a dealbreaker. My biggest issue with him is some of the sacks he takes.
Almost wish he had more confidence in his legs than he sometimes shows, which in turn, could lead to fewer of some of those sacks. Basically just if he could be more decisive getting himself out of tight spots, rather than having the impulse he’s shown to stop looking down field and turtle up on those situations.

Conversely, the Patriots have significantly more monetary flexibility and just overall resources coming up.
Isn’t that in part because our QB is on his rookie contract?

20 points missing 3 offensive linemen and two rookie WRs playing significantly snaps against the best defensive line in football, im good with their performance. Coaching prob cost them points as well.

That was a veteran level PBU. His corner blitz wasn't too shabby, either.
Dude can play! Hell of a game. Think of how good the secondary will be when Jack gets back.

I agree ... come back Jack.

Partly, but Miami is still paying Tua rookie dollars and is pinched next year anyway. Josh Allen also hasn't really hit the meat of his big cap hit years yet.

1-3 looks grim
But realistic.
OL with two rookie guards and Anderson at RT was MUCH better than expected
Agreed on Anderson. Pleasantly surprised by Sow. But Mafi, come on. Still learning the position and was beaten early and often in the first quarter. He did settle down. Until he killed a drive with his holding penalty.

And Bill O’Brien ran an abbreviated portion of the playbook. All quick release passes. Until the fourth quarter.

This OL is looking up. Anderson is much more athletic than McDermott was.

Then what was the problem today?
Consistency. Not trusting his reads, but mechanically in the first quarter, a lot of his throws were high. He should be able to throw in the rain by now, but it slipped a bit in his hand - that's not an excuse, he needs to do better there. Then, he overcompensated when it stopped raining, and a lot of his throws were really low (like the Juju drop, that should have been on the numbers leading him to the sideline, and it was like 3 inches off the turf).

He needs to be better. But his arm strength and mobility aren't an issue. He was good in the pocket, and did take off for a couple of first downs. What he needs is to consistently make the right throw to the right reads - which is something he should absolutely be able to do by now, so I hope that gets better. That 2nd quarter should prove that he has the arm and talent to get it done. He needs to put it together for 4 quarters.

If one of the new guys can play competently at LT then they might be in a good spot this year and in future years. Definitely much better than expected...

Poor guy had a tough 1st game.
But, on the other hand, he got open, caught balls... he seems like he was more involved .

than Pop.
This reaction sounds like he's going to be a guy that turns into a Brown/Edelman. I hope so!
Agree. His route running was pretty crisp. It's his first game . Let's give him some leeway . We hardly had any drafted receivers get this open lest catch balls.

This is progress.

He could have been a hero. But he made no attempt to get his second foot inbounds.

Is Troy Brown a good WR coach? The pros is two feet. Big change from the one foot in college.

I'm not happy with today. 20 points should beat Miami next Sunday. Assuming the Patriots don't hand them 13 in the first quarter again.

I bet we'll see at least Onwenu work back in next week, and more out of the run game.
I wonder if we'll see Parker back too?

I can't imagine we let Hill go for 200+ again!
Jonathan Jones on Hill should be good matchup. Marcus can also possibly man him.

It's going to be stunts/twists/games on Isaiah Wynn all day. Tua better get rid of the ball fast.

Jacobi Meyers had 8 catches and 2 TDs in a victory. JuJu had like two catches and one bad drop. Yuck
