We Seem To Have Enough Special Teamers To Play KC

He wouldn't but he might have to. Valentine inj absentee, A.Butler wrapped up knee after practice - listed on inj. report unfortunately.
Yea Butler is limited....

If KC is to win STs will be a reason. Probably a mix of a big return or 2 and a missed FG. I have confidence in our STs coverage but it does have a few question marks.

Are any of these players signed for more than 2017?

Only Jon Jonzz and Langi. Grissom is RFA in 2018. ST guys are typically on 2yr deals. Slater and Ebner are both on the 2nd/final year of their previous contracts, IIRC. The new guys - M. Flowers and Bademosi (and Marsh) are in the contract year of their previous (longer) deals.

Tyreek Hill will be a problem for our special teams coverage unit, unless we kick the ball out of bounds or real short. The D will have a problem as well if he doesn't get contained on some jet sweeps.
Maybe we can put Cooks and Dorsett on special teams to help contain some of Hill's speed.
Italics=kidding/joke

Out of bounds and touchbacks are my vote.

Pats have (supposedly) best weapon against KC returning game: their offense!
They can score every drive and kick over RZ..

Seriously it will be interesting to monitor how they approach KC most dangerous weapon. Last yr NE was top of the league re starting position on O luring teams to KR w goal-line kickoffs. One is situational football (so to eliminate the biggest danger they would kick over) but there's also pride and trust in their coverage unit (as Lombardi explains in last pod). Interested to see how it goes..

My guess as to the inactives (pending today's injury report):

VALENTINE - DNP/knee (or A. Butler - LP/knee, rookie)
FLEMING - DNP/ankle (or Croston, rookie)
Langi - LP/concussion, rookie
Marsh - NEW
Dorsett NEW (or Mitchell - LP/knee)
Hollister, rookie
Slater - LP/hamstring

Ebner - LP/shoulder - seems to have the best chance to be ready to play (based purely on the body part that's injured).

These are 1-2M contract so they'll basically keep what they need (mostly probably on mid season extensions).

There are many ST options on PS and IR for next year: McClellin, Cy.Jones, Rivers, Travis, D.Jones, C.Hollister; (Foster, Ayers, Bates)

If those are our options, we will either re-sign our current Sters or trade for new ones.

Special-teamers rarely pose a cap space problem.
