Death rate of SARS in 2002 was 9.6%

As far as I have seen the “long term damage” angle is very much speculative still. Have seen many reports of athletes who contracted the virus, recovered, and go on to play. NBA a prime example. I mentioned Marcus Smart above as a home-town reference. Haven’t seen any examples of players who suffer any damage but I may have simply missed it.Got any statistics on athletes getting the virus not dying but having damage done to their lungs such that they can no longer compete? Nah, didn't think so.
I think it will start to go away after November, especially if Biden wins. Media has no reason to complain anymore since they have their guy in the White House. While I think the virus is real to a certain extent, the constant misinformation confirms it has become more political.See it was originally we are all going to die. Then we found children didn’t, so it became middle aged, old and high risk, then it became just old and extremely high risk. Then since under 40 are pretty much ok, so it became you will make old people sick. Then it became well if you get it there might be a chance that it hurts your lungs, since well we are running out of anything to worry about.
His point was ridiculous on the face of it.You also have the stupid states like Florida cooking the books on deaths and qualifying them as pneumonia.

More people have died now to this disease than died in the US Civil War. 645,000 people are dead, and that doesn't even count the deaths various governments are trying to hide to make themselves look better.I am genuinely envious of people who are still fortunate enough to think COVID-10 is mostly media-driven hysteria. People who haven't watched loved ones die alone, and had to mourn them with zoom funerals. Who aren't watching friends in their 40s struggling with months of symptoms and permanent lung damage. I wish I were one of you. And I hope this hellish reality never intrudes on your illusions.
Perhaps if you distinguish between putting numbers in perspective and ignoring them you would see a lot less people “denying”.
There are rampant reports of overstated death numbers attributed to covid (ie the motorcycle accident victim counted) as well as antibodies being reported as new cases, statistics being reported as wrong, and people saying they were never tested but got informed they were positive.
Pointing out these issues is not denying the virus, but questioning the validity of the statistics. Very, very different thing.
Even if you give an appropriately wide margin of error the original comparison to SARS is absolutely ludicrous. Only 8000 people even got infected with SARS before an adjusted vaccine was able to counter it. It was contained in a matter of a few months, a year at most.Perhaps if you distinguish between putting numbers in perspective and ignoring them you would see a lot less people “denying”.

Again, there's been tons of misinformation from the get go. Anybody can find a story or stat that backs their experience up to say it's real or it's an exaggeration. During the second month of the California lock down, it was reported that hospitals where crowded so I expected a war zone when I had to pick my Dad up from the ER for an unrelated incident. It was empty. That's my experience. It's inevitable I will property get it, just like I can't run away from the flu forever. But when people's wallets have been affected by this or a loved one dies, it becomes political.I am genuinely envious of people who are still fortunate enough to think COVID-10 is mostly media-driven hysteria. How can covid deaths be underreported? There are also rampant reports of UNDERstated death numbers attributed to COVID-19.
All stats can be questioned, but the estimates used by the CDC are in fact overly conservative.
Of potentially getting COVID and dieing or having lasting damage for the rest of his life because of it ?
He has been working at the very frontline as doctor and therefore actually knows how serious the situation is.
