It hasnt always been this way. Borges started it to be spiteful when BB wouldn't give him any info, then Felger took it to the next level.

Sports talk now is basically saying something to be contrarian because people will listen, get angry, and interact. Some, like the aforementioned Felger and his natural doucheiness, are better equipped than others like Tanguay, who just says anything to try and get noticed.
