Goodell said the NFL will be leaders in the domestic violence space. Leaders!

There was a domestic violence accusation against Galette back in January. The case was dropped, but the NFL hasn't made any decision about any potential discipline yet. You would think that without a court case, nothing would happen to him, but, with Goodell, you never know. If this video puts some pressure on the commissioner to do something, Galette could miss some time. One thing Galette did lose was the option of using the "I would never raise my hand to a women. That's not who I am." defense if he ends up meeting with the NFL.

Before the tapes were released to the public, did it look like Goodell wanted to prevent Rice from playing? If you think Goodell gives a **** about players' character, I can get you an excellent deal on a slightly used bridge.

Agreed.
Goodell cares about the business of the NFL. He metes out his PR justice based on the the image of the NFL being a more marketable one. There is no way his justice is based upon keeping only players of high character on the field.
If Goodell could put players on the field that will light up the scoreboard and keep people glued to the TV, and these players are of the sordid variety but Goodell could in complete secret keep media from knowing any of the misdeeds of these players, take it to the bank Goodell/the NFL will not be pushing these players away from the field.

Disagree BTM. The NFL cares A LOT about women......that is women viewers. The male viewership market is already largely penetrated. Seeing growth in that demographic will require extra work just for smallish added penetration results. Female viewership, on the other hand, is a demo that has a lot of growth potential (it is significantly less penetrated).
Pink gloves is just the tip of the iceberg. Once the NFL brass can figure out what can be displayed to that demo to show how much they really care and are interested in them, the NFL likely will do it. I'll bet you they have already discussed NFL branded day care centers and Caitlyn Jenner day. They definitely care....
