Yes, MIA could have their doctors judge him healthy enough to play. If he gets any long-term injury, the MIA franchise will lose a very, very large court case.
I suppose Tua could appeal to the player's association and try to get a second opinion and the union's support. If he gets that, both the NFL AND MIA are on the hook if MIA won't pay the injury guarantee and force him to play for his money.

My guess is that there will be a negotiation and a settlement. I would be shocked if Tua plays again.
The doctors will examine the circumstances of this injury. His concussion was very likely caused due to his pervious condition. The "hit" was not at all severe.
No, it kinda really isn't. Tua isn't the first guy to suffer multiple concussions.
Pretty hypocritical to quote guys who already played full careers. And they have no more skin in Tua's decision than you or me.
Everyone has skin in the game of who is president. The guys who have fencing responses and get rushed to the hospital for concussions is unique. Players who have multiple concussions are not. But we see what happen to a significant number of the guys with a lot of concussions. Some get ALS. Some personality change and their lives end tragically (see Junior Seau). Others have significant other issues.
The odds of Tua having potential life ending issues later in life is far higher than most players because of his many significant concussions. If he plays after this, he is playing Russian Roulette with his future. He may think the money is worth the risk. I think it isn't worth it.
And it doesn't matter what you, I, or anyone thinks about this. Tua and his family are going to make the decision and without our input. I don't get your beef with people giving their opinion on a message board. It has no bearing in the real world. People with "no skin in the game" give their opinions on message boards all over the Internet every day on a wide variety of things. I am not saying this to get political, but as an example. Millions of people gave their opinion on whether Joe Biden should have gotten out of the race. None had skin in the game because they are not President or looking to stay in the White House.
And he has about 100 million reasons to quit right now.It is easy for people with no skin in the game to tell other people what to do.
Tua has about 120 million reasons to keep playing.
What's the point in all that cash if you're reduced to drooling in the corner with no idea where you are or what year it is?
It's got to be difficult to have this skill and not be able to use it.I'm having difficulty relating to the argument that Tua should keep playing, because 'he will be walking away from so much money'.
The guy has already earned enough money that he, his children, future grandchildren and great grandchildren are all financially set for life.

Perfect choice of words.
Not on of those 120 million reasons will make a hill of beans difference in his actual day-to-day life. He had enough money to do, well, anything he wants to do.
Like I said: It is easy for people with no skin in the game to tell other people what to do.His call, but he's risking a lot, and if it's just for financial reasons, he's a fool.

Why? I’m told he is garbage by the hatersIf I'm the Dolphins I'm on the phone right now with Andy Reid to acquire Bailey Zappy.

FWIW, I'm sure there are scientists who can estimate the force involved in the concussion by closely analyzing the tape, but it's hard to be an armchair analyst and say this hit was clearly a "lesser" hit than the previous ones. The last part is the most important part, Tua is getting serious concussions from lesser and lesser hits. It sucks that he needs to give up playing, but I doubt you would find a neurosurgeon out there who would endorse Tua continuing to play. And the Dolphins would be crazy to rely on team doctors, they are going to have to get get multiple independent approvals from neurologists if they are even thinking of putting him back out there.
