Why is the status of our inactive 6th WR relevant?

Because I am a "FAN" of troy Brown. He is my favorite football player of all time, and I dont have to think like a "suit". His being a part of what could be the GOAT is very important and VERY "relevant" to me .

IMO, this team can afford to make room for him on the roster. Even at his age, he is STILL more valuable to the team than Jackson in terms of veteran experience, leadership, versatility, and toughness; all of which will play a part down the stretch.

FWIW, Troy also has 3 more career INTS than Jackson.

I would be shocked if the IR'ed him. He either gets activated to the active roster tomorrow, or cut and put on the shadow roster.

If he gets cut, I'll bet he gets claimed, probably by the Colts or Redskins.

He will not be cut, the pats will put him on IR for the year.

As we saw yesterday, we only need four wide receivers (plus Watson and/or Faulk), even in the 5 receiver set.

Exactly. Eddie J was signed as primarily a ST player. I don't know if Troy would play on the coverage teams anymore. Realistically, Jackson is our #4/5 corner, so it makes no sense to cut him because he's a liability at CB.

Still no word and only 10 minutes to go. I keep refreshing Reiss' blog expecting news. He has a good analysis up now, though. He seems to think the likely thing would be swaping out Kareem Brown for Troy.

It's really a question, at this point, of "What can Brown do for you?" (I'm sorry, I had to.)

LB is a complicated position in the Pats defense. There is no place for newcomers at this position. If Colvin goes out, they move AD and backups are Woods and Alexander. They will not bring in a guy off the street and put him on this roster to play LB. Colvin's spot (which I hope does not open up) would merely open a position on teh roster. It is shortsighted and naive to think it must go to a LB. But what tdo I know, since I have no critical thinking ability like you.

Yes it is complicated. What isn't complicated is that we lack depth. Think about a different Brown. Try not to frown when you do. I did.

Actually, Chad Brown was at Gillette Stadium today. So it's likely they're bringing him in due to Colvin's injury.
