He was recruited to Michigan as a LB. His sophmore year he was moved to FB and lost 5 lbs. He was then asked to lose a few more lbs and move to RB along with Edwards ( a 5 star recruit). He is now considered a top 100 prospect who clearly loves physicality, is a great kid and is a local boy.It will be interesting to see if McDaniels will continue to feature a full back in the offense. As a stop gap, I wouldn't be opposed to letting Cole Strange give it ago in addition to back up center duties.

I was always a big James Develin fan. Would love to see a return of that role.
I would be shocked if they don't have one with JMcD as OC.I was always a big James Develin fan. Would love to see a return of that role.
Yeah, I remember now that Jakob Johnson went off with McDaniels to the Raiders in 2022 and the Pats told him that [with McDaniels gone] they were getting rid of the FB position.I would be shocked if they don't have one with JMcD as OC.
A picture is worth a thousand words but this clip is so much more. You cant teach this......they either have it or they dont.
During the dynasty the Pats always had great fullbacks, starting with Sam Gash. Bringing back the fullback would make a big difference in many ways. Not only has the team sucked in short yardage situations the OL and RB need the help getting to the second level which would make the running game more effective. A couple of short passes to the FB also gives the defense another thing to look for. Keeping one of the ineffective WR on the sidelines is a small price to pay for having the FB on the field.
like the full back... don't like the idea of Cole Strange giving it a go... don't want to open any unnecessary doors that might get him injured...It will be interesting to see if McDaniels will continue to feature a full back in the offense. Resigning Jakob at FB would be great for the offense. Strange is still learning the C position. Or jaheim bell in that role would be another option too.It will be interesting to see if McDaniels will continue to feature a full back in the offense. Right.. as he still was learning the C position.. I'd rather him stay at LG his natural position where he can play to his strength seems Andrews will be back.like the full back... don't like the idea of Cole Strange giving it a go... don't want to open any unnecessary doors that might get him injured...
Andrews is probably better as a backup at this point. Strange did a nice job stepping in at center, after a year off. Depending on who is available at G, he is a good option at C. Keep Andrews around as depth and his locker room presence.Right.. as he still was learning the C position.. It doesn't have to be an offensive player. It needs to be someone who is a thumper who likes to violently crash into others. If they have decent hands to it would be a plus for some screen passes. On the Pats Peppers would be that guy if he were bigger. Ravens have Patrick Ricard who was a defensive end in college but is a FB for them 6'3 311 lbs and is very athletic for someone that size.Resigning Jakob at FB would be great for the offense. Yes!Ricard is a bull dozer and they could have used more of him thet playoff game against the bills. I like the idea if Johnson.. he knows what McDaniels ask of him at the FB position or bell also who's big stout guy could play that role. The FB has an important role he picks up blitz, he helps seal the edge, and he's an relief valve when the QB is in trouble..It doesn't have to be an offensive player. Jakob Johnson? He's 30 years old now... Surely there are younger guys out there who can fill the FB role... if not, at least hes a sfa... won't cost anything to bring him in, see if he has anything left...Resigning Jakob at FB would be great for the offense. I would bring Johnson back because we knew he liked to hit. I dont know if Bell would want to do that dirty work and he is a little under sized at 6'2 240lbs. But Devlin was 6'3 255 lbs and the best to ever do it Mike Alstott was 6'1 248lbs........so maybe.Yes!Ricard is a bull dozer and they could have used more of him thet playoff game against the bills. No doubt and a favorite of mine but Alstott was in a league of his own. Would love to see how guys like Riggins, Csonka and Brown would look in the modern day NFL. They all are studs without question.Beast
I'd still take a filer on him. He is familiar with what Josh expects. Bell is the guy I feel like will have a chance to take that role.Jakob Johnson? He's 30 years old now...
