It can be a bad call sure. But it can also not be the reason why Dallas lost.

Definitely gotta love how people can conveniently forget that Dallas failed to score a TD in the first 58 minutes. Like that was suddenly going to change over a three yard completion getting called back.

3rd and 11’s aren’t that insurmountable. Go convert it and quit making excuses.

If the plays are replayed frame by frame, the calls looks bogus.
If the plays are viewed at full speed they look correct.

Don’t care, league also made the wrong call leaving one second on the clock giving them another play. No game is perfectly called, Pats for sure have had a bunch of bs calls on them throughout the season.

I mean you cant just say "go and convert it", Especially against our defense. The cowboys had already converted a 3rd and 1 and had it stolen from them by a phantom penalty. Would they have driven down and scored a TD? Maybe, maybe not. But they shouldve had the oppurtunity too.

That penalty isnt why they lost but it was definitely a horrible pentalty that destroyed their last drive. If that happened to us you guys know you would be furious.

Is that an official statement from the NFL or some account looking for attention?

After the Gronk no PI call against the panthers a few years ago and let’s not even get into the non-calls against the Giants in the 07 super bowl

Appears that someone from the Cowboys told someone the league admitted it but they couldn’t say it because the league hasn’t commented.

Tripping on the O-line is not a common call. Felt as though the refs may have been alerted to it as a pattern in the Cowboys' pass blocking schemes. Makes it easier to not get beat inside on zonal blocking when you can push the defender sideways over the legs of your neighboring lineman. I did not find the penalties called as egregious, which made me think they were looking for it.

Nope. I'm not even upset about the David Tyree helmet catch play where our defense was held 7 different times. If our team was truly better than the other team then it shouldn't be that close where it comes down to one bad call. Never let the refs decide the game; be a better team and dominate.

The best press conference answer ever by Jim Mora:

This is some hard to swallow pills that whiny losing fans need to hear when the refs decide the game.

This is an unverified twitter account throwing something out there with literally zero proof. I mean if it said "per Schefter" or something I could see it. But no one is being quoted here and when I did a quick search this was the only thing I saw other than that Mike Pereira said that they weren't penalties which IMO seems what the tweet in question is spinning as the nfl saying it.

This is the type of thing where someone says it and it keeps getting repeated so people take it as the truth.

The NFL Update guy does a pretty good job. He just updates things as he sees them across the league. Wasn’t the original reporter of this at all. I just chose the first report I saw on my feed of this.

I’d be mad if the call went against the Patriots there, but as many others have correctly pointed out, the odds of them scoring a TD are still pretty low. The Patriots defense was just better than the Cowboys offense, due mainly to Gilmore absolutely owning Cooper. When you fail to score a TD in like 9 drives, a bogus holding call like this doesn’t move the needle that much. Would have preferred to see how “real” the Dak clutch factor is in that situation, but 3rd and 11 isn’t a death blow. And the Cowboys chickened out on going for a TD earlier, which was their real fatal decision. Had they missed there’s no way that Patriots offense would have driven down field and clinched the game...they’d have been thrilled with two first downs and a punt.

The officials let an obvious hold/hug on Edelman & Dallas dpi on Harry go uncalled, so I have no qualms whatsoever getting a couple questionable calls in our favor. Cry me a river & I’ll row my Patriot boat down it. :)

Looking at another angle and understanding the rule better, I can at least see that it wasn’t a phantom call. That being said, it’s something that’s called less than 1% of the tome (I’m thinking) and I wish it wasn’t called there.

I have a lot of confidence the Patriots would have stopped them again if needed.
