Was always bringing in more powerful/balanced backs. Smith, Dillon, Maroney, Taylor, Law Firm, Ridley, Blount, Michel…

This is best rookie class to hit new England since the great class bb put together in the early 2010’s!!

I thought Stevenson looked okay last night. Carried 7 times for 35 yards, longest of 13. Showed some burst on a couple of carries, particularly his thirteen yarder as I recall.

Really? He looked good to me. All three guys did.

When he’s not fumbling Rhamondre is a really good runner. Never had a single complaint about him outside of last years issues.

Like White with Blount
Like Lewis with Blount (Lewis is the best example)

Stevenson will get more touches because he will be playing mostly on downs with a higher run proportion and Henderson will be playing on downs with a higher pass proportion.

Both will be very effective.

My Ohio friend had a lot of great things to say about Henderson when I asked him about him after the draft. He should be able to split time with Stevenson.

I don’t see it. Henderson uses his straight line speed to do what he does. Martin was one of the most elusive backs in history, great cut back runner.

Henderson doesn’t use elusiveness or cut back as a tool as much. Hell, I think of Henderson’s only carry, an 18 yard run, you know Martin would’ve used his cut back agility to cut back to the middle of the field to try to get more yards. Not attacking Henderson in any way, shape or form, just think he’s more of a straight line runner. I love his combativeness too, loved how he attacked defenders.

The kick return showed some elusiveness, and it comes at full speed too ! I think he’s faster than his 40 time. Sometimes players don’t measure as fast as they really are, like in the 40 yard dash, sometimes they underperform. I know Kyle Williams was disappointed at his 4.40 time, imagine that ? When you watch their film, you can see their breakaway speed.

He sure looked fast on the KO when he blew by the last Was defender, who seemed to have a good angle on Henderson, 'till he didn't.

Some interesting comparisons between White & Henderson. Both shared the load with another back in college. Henderson was more explosive than White was in college, but White was more elusive. However you do it, pure speed or elusiveness, you can be an explosive weapon in McDaniels’ offense if you grasp the offense quickly and can pass block.

I feel Henderson is ahead of White as a rookie. Let’s not forget White was pretty much redshirted his rookie season. Once Vereen left after SB 49 (what a great performance by him), White took over that role.

Worst case scenario, Henderson is the new James White with great straight line speed. Maybe the speediest back we’ve had in decades. Best case, he’s a do it all RB who eventually grabs the starting job from Stevenson in 2026. I do feel Henderson is stronger than his 5’11” 210 measurements.

Not sure what spectrum you’re saying they’re on. Don’t think any of them was autistic.

Spectrum of type of player. Very odd you took it that direction, not sure why. And I didn't say Dion was fast, either. Lewis is a very specific archetype, as is Blount. In between you have variety.

I guess I just don’t see what you mean by “spectrum of type of player”. I think of a spectrum as a single dimension, like the RGB colors spectrum. I don’t see football players the same way, I see multiple dimensions. So for RB there’s speed, quickness or agility, and power each as different dimensions. That makes it a scatter graph, not a progression.

I see Lewis as more agile, not particularly fast or powerful so not going to run over anybody.
Blount is powerful and will run over people, but not very agile nor fast enough to outrun them.
White and Faulk had a mixture of all three traits in various degrees, as did Dillon and Vereen and other RBs.

I haven’t seen enough of Henderson yet to be sure but so far my impression is that he’s fast, not greatly agile nor powerful. He might have more agility and power than I’ve seen so far, but for now he’s shown less of either than White, Faulk, or Dillon, IMO.

So I’d put Henderson at or near the FAST corner of the AGILE, FAST, POWERFUL triangle with Lewis at the AGILE corner and Blount on the POWERFUL corner. At least that’s how I see it, now.

While I always appreciate the little things like blocking, Henderson is what I liked most about that play.

The cuts and acceleration with the ball in a players hands trumps 4.3 speed almost everytime. He may have ran a 4.43 at the combine but seems to play faster.

Not only is his acceleration exceptional, but good ****ing luck bringing him down. He huts defenders harder than they hit him, and once he’s at the second level many defensive backs aren’t going to want anything to do with him. The other thing that I love about him is that his play is contagious. I swear that the rest of the offense was inspired by him to go out and knock the **** out of defenders trying to bring them down. Antonio Gibson immediately came out and lowered his shoulder into a guy trying to tackle him, and drive him back. That’s also the way Rham likes to play when he’s on, so in sum we should be seeing a lot more of a punishing run game, and that will set the tone for the rest of the team. As much as everyone loves the passing game nothing demoralizes an opponent more than running the ball down their throats, especially when they come to the realization that they won’t be able to stop it.

I attributed that to Vrabel’s influence.

I did notice Rham showing a bit of burst on his long carry. IIRC he lost a few pounds and said it was because he wanted to play faster. They’re all trying to be explosive.

And the RAS numbers say the new guy they picked up to replace Larison is a tick or two faster than Henderson!
