If he bulks up a bit, he could become a monster. Regardless, I bet he gets 10+ sacks next season.

WTF? HAHA. He doesn't need to bulk up.

He's ALREADY a monster. Flowers had 7 sacks and didn't start until the season was half over, then he had 2.5 sacks in the SuperBowl.
Agree. I think he's playing at the right weight now. He plays with power and speed. Wouldn't want to see him bulk up and slow down.

Well, he's a DE at a DE weight. He's just dominant rushing from the inside. The only way I see extra weight helping is if he becomes a fulltime 3 down DT.... which he could probably handle, but I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

.... and yes, I definitely agree with the 10+ sacks.

He's way better than Jones ever was imo.

I am not the biggest Chandler Jones fan around here but lets hold the horses a bit.

The problem with Jones usually was his consistency and him fading towards the end of the season. Lets see if Flowers can do what he did in the second part of the season over an entire season while playing more snaps.

The key thing with Flowers for me is that BB & co were able to get decent production out of another player on a rookie contract.

9.5 sacks in the last 11 games. And it's not just the sacks. Flowers absolutely abused the falcons o-line all game. He did the same thing against the Texans and had a good game against Pittsburgh as well. I liked chandler but flowers has already shattered his big game production.

I really want to see him be good next year, I feel like flowers having such a good game really went under the radar because the pats were doimng so badly

Definitely deserved his own thread. Really one of the few guys who showed up for the entire game.

Not sure what you mean here.. if the LG does not fumble and there was no pick six, the game would have been completely different.. 7-3 at the half..

For some unknown reason the Pats always start slow in Superbowls.. never felt that players did not show up.

Isn't it weird to think that next season it will be Flowers and supporting cast when we all expected Sheard and supporting cast. We need help at the position. I think Sheard probably stays. Can't see too many teams paying him after this season. Depth and familiarity helps.
But I really do hope they sit down with Trey and his reps to sign him up long term next off season.

So we don't need a new thread for everybody, how about Eric Rowe? Obviously, his highlights were circus catches for Julio Jones, but his coverage was excellent. Jones had 4 catches and needed to be a contortionist on a couple. Imagine Butler on those plays. With his size and jumps that portends well for next season. [couple seasons? contract?]

Flowers was great this season. After trading Jones, then watching Sheard's disappointing start, I was worried about the position but he stepped up in a huge way.

He's also further proof (not that we need any, but some fans do) that:

a) a rookie who doesn't contribute in his rookie season doesn't mean it's a bad draft pick, and
b) day 3 of the draft really matters. So often you hear the casual fans yawning over draft picks in the later rounds, assuming all the significant talent will be taken early, but so many times potential stars can slide down here.

I saw a few of the draft gurus on this board project Flowers here, amazing job guys and gals.

That's the problem with Chandler Jones. Nobody gives a damn if you have a great september. And let's be honest he wasn't even that great of a passrusher when he was hot.
He wasn't the type of guy who could bring constant pressure for 60 mins.

I think he could even stand to go down 5 lbs or so.......get a bit leaner and gain a bit of speed......but he is fine the way he is

flowers looks like justin tuck 2.0 to me

Was impressed w Flowers' late surge. Honestly - did not think he'd figure so prominently in the playoffs. Glad to be wrong about that. Huge huge game. Awesome player to have onboard

Really came into his own late in the season and in the playoffs. Seems like someone we can build our D - line around in the future.
