Jeff Howe on Jerrett Stidham (listed him among those whose stock is falling):
Stidham held a very slight edge in the quarterback rotations through three practices, but he stumbled through a brutal three-day stretch with seven interceptions and a minor hip injury, causing him to practice on a limited basis for much of the past week.
Stidham has completed 59 of 81 passes (72.8 percent) in camp, including 23 of 31 (74.2 percent) without an interception this week. But at this point, it seems to be too little, too late.
This climate has created a three-week sprint for jobs, and Stidham couldn’t afford those hiccups against a veteran like Newton. Comparatively, Jimmy Garoppolo always had preseason games to prove his practice interceptions were the outlier, but Stidham doesn’t get that opportunity this summer.
