PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Training Camp Day 11

Adding to this point, I remember some poster pointed out shortly before camp that Stidham and his wife were apparently partying all summer based on social media. I never looked into that myself but it does fit this larger narrative.

This is exactly how bits of misinformation become disinformation today. Someone puts out a conjecture, through conversation it becomes evidence, then random facts are brought in to support the new "fact." Soon a group of people adopt it as part of their tribal reality, and boom, we have a new narrative around which people can get polarized.

Agreed. I heard Stid and his wife went TX for a wedding. If true, good for them. I hope they had a fun time. Sounds like a wholesome, mature thing to do to me. I am sure BB does not object to players attending weddings.

I wonder if they knew he was going to be a project. Maybe he's the Stephen Neal of kickers and in 4 years it will look like another genius BB move.

Yeah maybe. To be honest, I’m not even sure he would of been drafted? Colts signed the consensus best college kicker as a udfa who was 6-9 over 50 and 92% within 40. I don’t know what NFL teams look for in kickers when drafting them. Blankenship could easily bust for all I know. So far, not so good for the project though.

McLaughlin seems to be winning the Colts’ kicking job right now. He went 8/8 in one practice last week to Blankenship’s 5/8.

Right, like I said, have no idea what it takes besides consistently making the kicks. Seems hard to evaluate right out of college and having only 2 kickers on the Pats since the mid 90’s I don’t think we even have a arm chair’s view of what to look for.

This is a good question - maybe kicks under pressure? Camp is relatively easy, but with a game on the line... Only other thing I can think of is just outright football IQ so a coach can trust you to run a trick play?
