Adding to this point, I remember some poster pointed out shortly before camp that Stidham and his wife were apparently partying all summer based on social media. I never looked into that myself but it does fit this larger narrative.
This is exactly how bits of misinformation become disinformation today. Someone puts out a conjecture, through conversation it becomes evidence, then random facts are brought in to support the new "fact." Soon a group of people adopt it as part of their tribal reality, and boom, we have a new narrative around which people can get polarized.
