Looking forward to guys going up against the commanders.. it can get monotonous going up against your own guys.. everyone knows each others tendencies and abilities.

I know man.. lol I wasn't showing you up..I actually appreciate your insights
just making the point that gonzo relies on His speed, agility, and athleticism. If he hampered during the season it will affect the secondary mightily. Is why I would have like to get Alexander as a 3rd CB.. Davis knock on him is injury history. Fortunately gonzo hammy is a grade 1.. 8-14 days of rest. I would rather not see gonzo until week 1 on the practice field in preparation for the raiders.
Agreed, take as long as he needs, even if he doesn't see the field until the week of practice right before game 1. When I tore my hammy it was so bad I had a football size bruise from the internal bleeding. I don't know what grade, but definitely worse than a grade 1. I think I missed about 4-5 weeks if memory serves.

For sure. Interested to see Campbell go against some new guys. Fingers crossed!

For sure. Mayo basically ran BB's defense which is safe, make no mistakes, take very few risks...etc. The problem with that when you have no game wreckers up front often times the opposing QB has all day to make a plays. We saw that far too often last year. Even a HOF secondary can't cover forever. And when you can't stop the run, our DBs, especially Safties creep up and always have run in their mind, then boom, beat over the top.
Absolutely agree! BBs defenses worked primarily in the earlier part of the dynasty because we had Wilfork, Seymour, Ted Washington, ty Warren, Jarvis green anchors on the Defensive line.. this team has Spillane who is a heat seeking missile and excellent against the run as is Landry and Chaisson.. Barmore, white and Williams will wreck game plans all season. Also we have much better complimentary players this season as well.

Well.. unlike you and I, signbabybrady gets a perfect view of it all from his neck of the woods.. . He can watch practice while he's sipping on something.. LOL..

I’m hoping by midseason Diggs and Boutte are duking it out for WR4 behind Williams, Chism, and Baker. And maybe even Henderson.

Remember, Diggs looks great for a player coming off an ACL repair, but he’s still coming off an ACL repair.
you on crack bro?
No, something much more powerful: hope.

First preseason in a few years where it seems justified, so I’m letting it run wild.

Don’t tell me you’d be disappointed with what I described.

I've said it many times, he may be ultra talented, but if he's a #Dumbass, he's good for noone.
If he finally gets the PB, and as a pro, I'll be happy to see him play.
Hope he doesn't chalk up a bunch of taunting calls if he makes it.

JUST A THOUGHT
If the top 4 are Diggs, Hollins, Douglas and Williams, shouldn't the 5th and 6th be the players who have the highest upside?

Let's be real. The #5 and #6 are unlikely to get a huge number of receptions THIS year, even with one injury. After, we have several receiving targets in our RB's and WR's.
==========
WHO HAS THE HIGHEST UPSIDE? (choose 1 or 2)
BOUTTE
POLK
BAKER
CHISM
I’d put Boutte on the roster and then look at your list, plus Bourne. I’d be looking for one to roster and then PS candidates.

Baker and Chism clearly have the most upside/highest ceilings out of that remaining list. Chism is more likely to get claimed if cut so he makes the roster and Baker gets to the PS. Assuming Baker continues his upward trajectory for the rest of camp I’d give him the sweetest PS deal possible (are PS contracts set by the CBA?) and a verbal request for the opportunity to match any team’s offer to sign him off the PS.

Polk is next, mainly because Baker’s athleticism eclipses Polk and I’m evaluating them as otherwise equal. PS for him.

Bourne’s upside is limited by age and mileage. Love the guy, but his arc has likely reached its highest.

No verbal request required, an NFL team can protect up to 4 PS players every week.

Practice squad protection was only a temporary Covid rule. It wasn’t renewed after the 2021 season.

Are you sure? from the Sporting News article in August 2024:

Teams are allowed to protect up to four players on the practice squad each week. Other teams cannot sign these protected players.

From another source:

Poaching players: Teams can sign players off the practice squad of any other NFL team. That player must be added to the new team’s 53-man roster and be eligible for at least three games. COVID-era practice squad protections which enabled teams to designate four players each week who could not be signed by another team no longer exist.

Probably not. Rham won't be that guy, he already admitted it and Vrabes already said it. He got careless in a BS Scrimmage.
I don't expect that to continue personally.

The Fumbler will never, Ever see Opening Day 2026 here. Neither will Onemenu or Uncle Dugg. Or Staph Iggs for that matter.

You just brought a player back my memory when thinking about Polk's skill set: Malcolm Mitchell. It's a shame that bum knee cut his career short: but yeah Polk's ceiling could be Malcolm Mitchell.

Rashad Higgins was > MM during the draft process and was taken a full round later.

BootyTime & the Chism Trail.

sloPolk & halfBaked: Trade fodder/PS bodies.

I'd caution that though.. you still need a back that gets yards...

Just touching on some camp reporting from Perry and Bedard.. they feel Dugger could be cut or released.. I admit didn't see this as possibility. I'm in the same boat as rham.. with Dugger.. you need a veteran who's been here and played at high level before especially with a younger team. Is Woodson ready to lead? Haven't seen much about petus? If Dugger is released.. then..you have peppers and some uproven guys at S.. I don't think vrabel wants to gamble like that... IMO..

Agreed: the Fumbler, Uncle Dugg & Onemenu will All be Outta Here without MASSIVE contract restructures.

Edit: NEXT year, not this year.
