There are two categories of team needs:

1) Starter level needs, where you lack guys that belong on the top of the depth chart

2) Depth level needs, where you need guys on the end of the depth chart

Everyone knows we need a starting caliber LT. That's a category 1 need. WR is another one where we have a lot of guys to fill out the depth chart but lack anyone to headline it.

We lack reliable 3rd options at RB and TE. Those are level 2 needs. The top of those depth charts are fine, but it gets shaky when you go down it.

I don't think the waiver wire is where we're going to find category 1 need solutions. Teams aren't cutting guys who will come in and be our #1 WR. I know people here hate on Lowe and Okorafor but they're roster-worthy players so teams aren't going to be cutting a ton of guys better. Obviously scour the market for someone who you have a good scouting report for, but expecting guys better than we have at these spots is unlikely IMO because for as much griping as there are over the top of our depth charts, I think we have full depth charts of NFL caliber players believe it or not.

The category 2 needs are where I think we can find some answers. I'm sure there's some team that has running backs better than Kevin Harris or Hasty. I bet there's someone who has a 3rd TE better than Bell or Wilcox. Upgrades at those spots are more in line with the caliber of player teams will be cutting IMO.
I like Harris, Hasty and Jennings more than most people apparently. Definitely would like to see a blocking TE. In the QB review of the Panther game, Wilcox seemed to be open nearly every play.

I do too. Hasty has some real ability. The running game is key to anything they do on offense this season and will take pressure off this O line.

Not that we should get him but White > Bailey Zappe.
There pretty much the same level both would offer a chance to win a little if your starter went down short term but neither seems like they should be threatening anyone to start.

Looks like Miami is going to be in the hunt for WR behind Waddle and Hill..

I have no doubt that if Boutte is released, he's getting picked up by someone.. Unfortunately..

Their career ratings are close but I like White’s arm over Zappe’s who has one of the weakest in the league. People talk up Zappe’s first 2 games of his career but White looked really good too in fact he threw for over 400 yards in a game once. Zappe has never sniffed anything close to that. You’re right that neither are starters.
