We project to having 14 picks in 2020.
    1 2 3 3 3 4 4 6 6 6 7 7 7 7

I wonder if we will be looking to trade picks for players particularly during camp/at cutdown.

Can we trade projected compensatories? Such as “lowest 6th rounder” or something to that effect?

I would assume throwing a 7th at a role player (ster, TE3, dt4) who is being cut so as to not lose out to a waiver claim would work and we have 4 of them.

Yeah, you can trade projected compensatory picks, kinda. The team just has to come up with a contingency plan if the pick isn't awarded. This happened in the Jamie Collins deal. Originally we got a 4th round pick conditional on the Browns not receiving a 3rd round comp.

Rudolph would have to take a major pay cut for me to be interested.
I think we are deemphasizing the TE position. His cap # says we would be “reemphasizing it” and he isn’t that good.

Those picks are going to fetch NE 2-3 vets this spring/summer. Maybe even another in early season.

Hits like KVN are as important as the splashy signings, such as Gilmore. It’s even more “worth it” if the player comes back with another, lower pick.

I don't think it's a problem keeping all of those 6/7's....we likely will just either:

a.) Package them all and jump into round 5...maybe 4 next year.

b.) Or just draft our UDFA's in advance.

That being said...if Rudolph is available...I might do a 4....and figure out how to eat his 7M salary for a year...maybe trade a player to the Vikes to make it work...

    This needs a thread?

The concept was discussed during the draft.

Every pick after round 3 for the 1st overall (how can a team say "no" to 9 picks!).

If we can't get it done via FA, I would like to see us trade several of those 6 and 7 round picks for additional WR, TE and DT.

For Rudolph I would part ways with a 4th.

Solid by the standards of today's tight ends, which is to say he's not very good. Rudolph's a deficient blocker and doesn't make up for it with the exceptional receiving acumen of an Ertz or Kelce. I don't really see the appeal.

If that’s the case, I don’t see them going for this trade. They lack a dual-threat tight end (doesn’t need to be spectacular like Gronk, but someone who is above average at blocking and can give you 500+ yards receiving.). That’s a big missing chess piece.

Otherwise, it seems like they’ve already covered the “big receiver who is called a tight end” after missing out (thankfully) on Jared Cook. They subsequently drafted Harry (6’2”), Thomas (6’3”), and Inman (6’3”). Gordon is also 6’3”. There’s some awesome athleticism there too, so I think they’ll count on these guys to run the receiving routes that a guy like Rudolph or Cook would have been useful for. Watson might be too old, but he’s 6’4” and knows the system. Probably still a better risk:reward than Rudolph, who may cost a lost of draft capital with limited upside.

And probably another late pick coming for either Bailey or Allen. . . .
