But is he undervalued ? Just because someone assigned a first round pick to him years ago doesn't mean that there is some hidden potential in him.
That is a fair assessment Cousin, but I get the point on the poster Pony.....
I am sure there is not a poster on this site who believes that the Pats are going into 2020 (God Willing) with a young man with terrible college tape in his senior year, has thrown four professional passes including one touch down.....for the other Team, and that of a wiley veteran though he might be, Brian Hoyer, but he is a backup up.
Maybe Stidham's experience in 2019 will be a Brett Farve experience on the Falcons (Favre’s statistical line was (0 for 4, two interceptions. His first pass a pick-six) But Glanville knew he had talent. He just could not real him in.
Now let's look at the other available venues:
>Do we trade at least two #1 Draft picks for the rights to Herbert or Tua?
>Do we look at Love who the media is gushing about? I call fake news on that kid. His 2019 tape was worse than Stidhams'. He was a mistake and an interception machine. Might as well keep the devil you know. I like the kid as a person.
>Do we consider Newton? Here's the Deal. The Patriots mantra is "He gives us the best chance to win". Is this crap? As much as I am NOT a Newton Fan, yes, in fact, he gives us a better chance to win in 2020. Do any naysayers disagree? He is not a cultural fit. I have my doubts as to if a Team player. It's up in the air with me if he loves the games.......but Bill held his nose and bit on Corey Dillion, Albert Haynesworth and even Randy Moss to some degree. Would Newton take a Pats type deal to move his career upward?
>Jameis Winston? Again I am NOT a Fan of Winston but there is a dynamic here that the posters are overlooking as I have mentioned in other posts. This could be a litmus test challenge that Bill and Josh would accept. Does Bill not want to see that the Pats are more competitive than the Brady Bucs in 2020? Better yet, use their disposed of QB? From a pure talent point of view to date, Winston has shown he has talent but it needs harnessing. He has more talent than Stidham. He has more NFL tape...some good, some bad.........that says he might win a game or two (or lose a few if you don't shackle his streetball game). Would he be willing to compete with Stidma and Hoyer to start? Would he take the money offered with his only 2020 chance to start that I see? As much as I am NOT a Winston Fan, yes he would win the starting job. If he keeps it is another question. Winston's success would be BB's "IN YOUR FACE" moment with a swap of QB's.
> Do we trade for the Trubster from Chicago? His 2018 was ok. He was 11-3. He made the playoffs. 2019 he was inconsistent for sure. Career-wise he's pitched 4 comebacks and had 6 game-winning drives. Here is the irony. In 2018 when we won the Super Bowl, Trubiski had a better year than Brady.....DID YOU KNOW THAT? In 2018 he had a better completion record, a better QBR rating, and as many wins. The curious stat is sacks. Trubiske went from 24 sacks in 2018 to 38 in 2019. Was that a factor? He's only 25.
I am not saying he is Brady BUT is there something that can be fixed? Again...who gives us a better chance to win in 2020?
>The dark horse is Derek Carr. He was pretty competent last year but has fell out of favor with Gruden and Mayock...he was just not their guy. Over 4,000 yards completed and over 70% completion ratio on a team that had as many receiving weapon issues as we did.
Thoughts? Serious objections? Threats?
