If Giants do it for first and Mid but we can make the same trade to get up in the 15 to 20 range if he drops.
What do you prefer?

I went QB because I want to keep Flowers and don't like giving up that much for WRs. But I'd probably push the QB investment 1 or even 2 more years. I get the risk in not doing it but I don't want to do it to early again we want some term left on whoever this is when TB finally walks.

Do we know if the Giants are even interested in dealing Odell? All the buzz is about teams interested.

QB should be addressed in the 2020/2021 draft there should be a lot better talent. So not a fan of a QB prospect this season unless it’s a late round flyer.

Metcalf could easily go top ten depending how his combine goes. If he runs Sub 4.4 he will go top ten I imagine, he may be the closest thing to Calvin Johnson since he came out and he went #2 in the 07 draft and Metcalf could be that again.

Depending how the board falls I can see us going DT or TE with our first pick. I can see a double dip on receivers possibly too. We’ve got some holes we need to fill but we’re not in horrible shape.

Giants are asking for AT least two 1st round picks. No thanks.

The more I think about it the more I would be willing to trade #32 for Odell if he can be had for it.

Yes, it is only a 1 yr rental but it would allow you to really go all in for next year which is the only year we should be concerned about at this point. Anyone we draft at 32 may very well not have an impact until next year if they hit at all. Do we really want to do that at this point?

Add Beckham and suddenly your offensive situation becomes a lot different. You can invest more picks and money in defense for next years run without worrying about having enough fire power. I get the feeling Gronk will be coming back.

Edelman, Beckham and Gronk is all you need for a playoff run if they are healthy. They will probably get a few odds and ends like Dorsett or Amendola but I'm talking about starters.

depth is nice but starters and big time players make the clutch plays in the big moments. They will need the firepower to get by KC next year as I think their D will take a small step back even if they keep Flowers.

Now if the Giants aren't willing to trade the #32 pick for him then i'm not interested. I don't think they should give up any more.

1-year rental? He's signed to a long-term deal.

I think it's all smoke anyway - Bechkam is "courting" Brady on twitter because it's best for him and the Giants to get other teams scared that he'll join New England.

Odell responded to the trade rumors and said he was upset that garbage like that was out there and he will prove he is the number 1 receiver in the NFL.
I want him even more now.

The Giants will have 35 million dead money for trading OBJ. That only should worth a 3rd at least.

That’s if he’s cut. A trade is “only” $16 million in dead money. Still a lot, but not an amount that would singlehandedly prevent a trade from happening.

Neither one is happening ...
The need for OBJ was last year ...
We have greater needs in the 1st round than a receiver.

so NE gets pay some prorated signing bonus?

maybe we should send a 3rd for Sanu instead.

He's marketing himself. A couple of things...first, the Pats were after him BEFORE he signed the mega deal (cap hit of 8m). It was a Cooks-like move.

Having other teams think the Pats are after you, for a superstar, is $$$$$. This case is a bit different, because hes already been paid, but it's what generate more interest if he really wants to get the hell away from the Giants.

Think about it: if a game-changer is rumored to be going to a team that's been in the SB 3 years straight, stopping him from going there adds to the calculus of his value to a different contender.

The only time I've seen something like this with NE was Revis.

Pats FA looks to me to be about retaining their own and bargain hunting down the line for the 2-5m players. If Gronk retires, DMac retires, Flowers and Brown are lost in FA, that could change, but my bet would be that the likeliest big WR "name" who lands on the Pats would be Manny Sanders. He won't get a big deal with his age and that injury. If Denver cuts him, he'll want a "prove-it" - no better place for that than New England. Plus, I think there's a mutual respect there between him and the team.

I still doubt even that would happen.

Hope I'm wrong, of course. I just don't see it.

What you ask for and you what get are two different things. They know deep down nobody is giving them 2 1sts.
They can easily just keep him, he's under contract for quite some time.

WR is pretty deep. I like Metcalf, but not with a trade up. How about his teammate, Lodge, who has better body control and contested ball skills, in the 4th or 5th?
Don't make a case for the most pro ready WR on that team. Depending on the board not sure I'd take him at 32. All the potential in the world but hasnt put enough together for me. Definitely not lottery.
