A bit surprising. But shows that his market may not be worth a chance of a low round pick.

Is a mid-$$ 2-yr deal worth it for him, versus a market-setting $$ deal for Higgins or something?
I say yes. We're clearly going to draft a 2nd/3rd round WR (if not roll the dice on Hunter).
We need a solid vet, possession/YAC guy who can win. Adams can still do that to a certain extent.
And we're still going to try to develop Polk or Baker.

Dunno....but one thing for sure...we are out on Higgins...no way do we give up two firsts. We'll get him next year if the Bengals don't extend him.

I think Godwin and Slayton would be a good combo. Godwin/Pop Douglas in middle/short area....Slayton/Boutte outside.

He's probably done, but ya. He's better than what's here.

He would instantly be our best WR. His game is based on route running so at 32 not worried about a drastic drop in production.

He got 850 yards and 7 TDs last season in 11 games playing with the corpse of Aaron Rodgers.

Sign me up

Agree- Sign me up.

Someone will pay him.

2yr/$35m. $20m guaranteed.

If he sucks, it's a 1yr deal w/ small dead cap hit for 2026.

I think Godwin is young enough and has a resume that shows much more than what he is at this point in his career. He's always injured and not worth the top $$ deal he'll probably steal from some team.

With Adams - we know what he is, and why he'd come. A true professional, a great model for our young guys, and still physically dominant even if his speed isn't top tier. But, there's no way he's getting top $$, or long term deal at this point. Doubt he wants to come here because he's probably ranking SB-contender as primary, but you never know. Vrabel has a way with players.

He was released because he's clearly not worth his contract. He's a mercenary and will sign with the most random team where he'll have zero impact for the most money. And as I said yesterday, I see that cliff approaching fast.

He's not going to be the savior for the Pats. They need to learn to draft one and just sign some competent stop gap players.

If he is cool with McDaniels then yeah sign me up 100%. He already knows the system and he is an actual real X receiver. His best days are behind him but he is solid and lets them target flashier options at Z like Chris Godwin, or Golden in the draft, etc.

How can we have 2 slots added to Pop and Polk who are 2 slots already? Playing Boutte in the X was not ideal. He is a Z. Slayton was the Giant's slot. He is only 6'1" and isn't ideal for the X. Your suggestion is an improvement over 2024, but that doesn't mean anything.

We need diversity and balance, not just the same guy cloned over and over. Match Godwin with someone like Jayden Higgins who is a true X. Let pop be the gadget and learn under Godwin. Boutte and Bourne are the Z. Find something Polk can learn and handle a little at a time.

No. And he's already stated that he wants to play on the West Coast. Chargers are a good bet.

If I was a betting man, I would bet on him going to the Chargers.

The Patriots should at least try to make an effort to sign him, but I don't like their chances.

Godwin is an upgrade over Pops/Polk. And it never hurts to have many slot receivers. Right now, I don't think Polk has anything to contribute...I'd love to be wrong. And Slayton is plenty fast enough...IIRC his YPC was among the top 15 in the league. And Boutte might not be ideal, but there's an argument to be made that he's Maye's favorite receiver right now. And if Vrabes/McDaniels go run heavy....we can worry about a true X receiver later down the road... and don't forget we still have Javon Baker on the roster...the kid played sparingly last year....maybe he'll surprise....

Davante Adams fills the need for a WR with great separation skills, which he is elite at. 67/854/7 in 11 games with the Jets, while sharing targets with Garrett Wilson, while receiving passes from the corpse of Aaron Rodgers. He'd be a nice WR1 for us if he wants to come here, but I don't think he will. He's earned over $129 million in his playing career but is going to want one more try at a Super Bowl ring before he calls it a career.
