I think Godwin and Slayton would be a good combo. Godwin/Pop Douglas in middle/short area....Slayton/Boutte outside.

Yes... we have no one in the WR room of his caliber. Even at 32 he's still good would command a teams best CB.. slayton I've been on for months... a big yes on him too.. would be an excellent first week of FA to get Adams and Stanley both!

Godwin is an upgrade over Pops/Polk. And it never hurts to have many slot receivers. Right now, I don't think Polk has anything to contribute...I'd love to be wrong. And Slayton is plenty fast enough...IIRC his YPC was among the top 15 in the league. And Boutte might not be ideal, but there's an argument to be made that he's Maye's favorite receiver right now. And if Vrabes/McDaniels go run heavy....we can worry about a true X receiver later down the road... and don't forget we still have Javon Baker on the roster...the kid played sparingly last year....maybe he'll surprise....

That is probably as much as we can expect. Godwin did not get a franchise tag. They have 5 days to get a deal done. There is no doubt Godwin is an upgrade of Pop. To me, Pop is just an extra gadget guy. He will never be dependable because of size.

Darius Slayton's 40 time was 4.39, so yes he is fast. He is an upgrade over everyone in our WR room, but here is the problem. Its all a log jam. We have to hack and cut to get a better and balanced room. We are full of slots and Zs. I don't see us cutting Pop. He has shown potential. I don't see us cutting Polk since he is a 2nd round pick. They will give him a year under Josh. If we got Godwin and Slayton, that leaves 3-4 spots left to be filled by Boutte, Bourne, Baker, JaQuae Jackson, John Jiles, and draft picks.

I hope they draft an X in rounds 2-3.

I mean that’s probably the going rate, so you’re right. That’s what Cincy will get if they trade him. Just not sure it helps the Patriots get where they want. I don’t think he’s long term here, I think he’ll be on the back nine by the time this team is hopefully ready to compete
