Trade #4 overall for Myles Garret

Garrett wants to go to a contender. He won’t want to come to the Patriots.

No way Carter will be available at 4. Kipr thinks Sanders and WRd are falling fast.

There is no one who will be available at 4 nearly as good as Garrett. Maybe the trade is Garrett and Browns second rounder for 4.
Nos I agree MG may not want to come here.

Would definitely do the same deal for Parsons. If no QBs taken in top 3 not sure anyone available is worth 4

Unusual draft year with no elite QBs at very top

Garrett will be like 32 when we might be ready to compete.

Doing the deal for Parsons is very different than MG because of age.

The reality is you can't trade for MG with the expectation that he'll be at this level for more than 3 years. Not saying he will fall off a cliff after that, but it's not smart money to expect a guy to be DPOY caliber into his mid 30s. So if you do this deal you BETTER make sure you're pulling out every stop to build a SB contending roster because if not, what's the point of making the deal? And even if they pull out all the stops, it's still really hard to go from where we're at (least talented team in the NFL) to a real SB contender.

With Parsons he's young enough that you don't have to approach it with the same sense of immediacy. That makes it a much more feasible move, IMO.

Carter is a younger cheaper version of Parsons.
One thing I’ve noticed in the last few seasons young rookie pass rushers are making an impact very early.
I think this is a position you can bolster in the first 4 tokens of the draft.
Carter isn't in Parsons' stratosphere.
He's just another good, but undersized pass rusher that you can get in the back half of every first round for the last 25 years.

He's not worthy of the #4 overall pick.

The thing to remember with these picks is each draft class is different and can’t be measured by previous classes. A guy like Abdul Carter may not be worth the #4 pick in most classes, but as the top EDGE in this draft class, he is. The same way a guy like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders may not be worth a top 16 pick when compared to last year’s class, it is a much shallower class at QB this year and the demand still exists. Will Campbell is not a top 10 selection in last year’s class, but he’s not up against last year’s class, it’s this year’s. A guy like Tee Higgins shouldn’t be worth $30 million plus, but he’s the top WR in the free agent market (assuming the Bengals don’t franchise tag him which shouldn’t be ruled out). He’s worth what the market says he’s worth. Same applies to this draft class.

Carter isn’t as good a player as Parsons.

Just checked back in… this thread still exists, wow

They need so much that pretty much anything can be talked to death this offseason. I’m fine with that, this is the most interesting they have been in decades.

He's 29 years old a little too old in my opinion
I am good with his age but not the cost. He turned 29 in December, so most the 2025 season will be at 29

When do you think we may be contending for a SB? That is the question. If it's this season, then sure maybe we do the trade.

Interesting tidbit on the Draft Stock Exchange podcast. They did a show about the possibility of Cleveland trading Garrett and concluded that if they traded him they would need to release Jack Conklin to manage the cap ramifications.

Jack Conklin LOVES Mike Vrabel, and would be an immediate answer at RT for the Patriots.

I'd like Carter or Graham with the 1st pick.
Create PRESSURE, you'll have a chance.

No brainer. Elite talent. Team Leader would jump start rebuild. No one at 4 is close to his talent level.
Would browns accept it probably not, might have to throw in a 26 2nd rounder
He has Reggie White like talent
He doesn't fit the Patriots window. He needs to go to a team ready to compete for playoffs and championships now.

This is the same reason why we traded away Judon.

I don't see the point of giving away the #4 pick that will get you a young top rated talent who could be a cornerstone piece for a 29 year old who wants to win now.

Doesn't make any logical sense.

If you're a piece away then a trade for Garrett would make sense.

He'll also be 30 next season, no way
