..according to NFL.com. #1 is quite sensational:

were any of Bobby Griers on there? I always thought the 1997 Patriots draft was quite sensational. Damon Denson, Sedrick Shaw, Chris Canty :bricks:

Pete Carroll gets all the blame, but i always pointed more to Grier, in 3 years Damian Woody and Kevin Faulk were the only 2 picks that helped the Patriots in any way.

Although I do blame Grier far more for our late 90s woes, Carroll was not a good NFL coach and had no control of the team. He had poor clock management skills, no guts (I remember him taking a knee once when we had over a minute left on the first half clock), and couldn't get his staff to get plays in on time. Also, many of the players didn't respect him. It was both their faults for the decline post-Parcells. Grier was just more responsible.

Ugh. I am traumatised just reading that. The Steelers selected Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth and Mike Webster all in the same draft. 23 years later and we produce that shower of s**t? Unbelievable.

We'll always have Tom Reynolds. We traded away our 1st for Fred Dwyer, who wouldn't play for us, so we had to ship to LA for a pick the following year. CB Ron Bolton is the only one off the '72 draft list that I remember starting for us. Those were the ugliest years.

Picking Tom Brady saves some face though...

The credit for picking Tom Brady belongs to a quarterback's

coach called **** Rehbein. Rehbein thought that Brady was the

second coming of Joe Montana while others in the organization

were quite skeptical about Rehbein's claim. Rehbein became very

anxious as each round of the draft went by with Brady not being

selected by the Patriots. Finally, in the 6th round, Brady

was chosen.

however that was after Grier left and the Belichick regime took over.

Thank you **** Rehbein!!! I remember hearing the debate was over drafting Brady or Tom Rattay with the pick. um, good choice!
