Re: Tom Martinez "Brady will struggle early,But he'll succeed"

How old was Rivers? How Old was Palmer?

How old is Brady?

Right, because Brady at age 31 was clearly showing signs that he was slowing down.

I forget about that trigger in the body that says when you hit 30 years of age, that you suddenly become a decrepit, useless cripple. I guess no one told Kurt Warner about it.

Considering Brady's injury was nothing like Peyton's, what does he know we don't?

Nada.

Hush your mouth with that 30 talk I turn the big 3-0 this year

Wow! Brady is 31. I wonder if he got his AARP card yet. Seriously, when did 31 become really old for a QB? Rodney Harrison came back in a year's time after tearing all three ligaments in his knee at an older age than Brady and a position where he needs his knee to be 100% much more.

Re: Tom Martinez "Brady will struggle early, but he'll succeed"

Martinez is a guy that seems like he knows what Brady is all about and when it comes to getting back to basics he expects Brady's performance in the early going in 2009 to look similar to Manning after his knee surgery and maybe start off a bit erratic and unbrady-like early but should be back to his old form later on.

My hope is that Brady is able to actually MAKE IT on the field in the early going,I really don't care if he sucks a bit early,I just want him back on that field, erratic and rusty or not its better than nothing

Nice little article by our own Chris Price

WEEI 850AM Sports Radio - Martinez: Brady will struggle, but he'll succeed

And unlike you I do care. I don't want to dig out from a 2-5 record that must be overcome to make the playoffs. If he can walk, but can't really play, I don't want him playing until he is ready. He is too valuable to be abused, when we are behind in a game.

Again two completely different injuries, the two situations couldn't be more different.

Manning had a bursta sac removed from his knee at the end of July. It was expected to keep him out 4-6 weeks, it was suspected that he could miss the opener because it was on the backend of the window. Then he had a staph infection, which required his knee to be cut open again, just two weeks before the opener. Knowing that stitches tend to stay in for 10 days, means that he had his removed aproximately 4 days before playing. He hadn't walked on his knee much less throw a football, until days before he played.

Brady had surgery 11 months before the opening of the season for an injury that takes 4-6 months to come back from. Even if he is on the backend of the recovery window he should be ready to go around draft time. That will give him four months to get ready before the opening of the season. Based on this timeline, he should be ready for mini-camp and without a doubt would be ready for Training Camp.

I don't. That sounds like a guy whose making the determination based on the wrong things.

Now go ahead and explain how these are 'the wrong things'. Are you honestly trying to claim that willpower, determination, and work ethic are irrelevant to the rehab process? If so, have you ever actually rehabbed an injury?

Re: Tom Martinez "Brady will struggle early,But he'll succeed"

You just don't understand....

You see, players from OTHER teams are allowed to be injured and play less than 100% effectively, and they can also be expected to be better than ever when they return. Patriots players aren't given any quarter no matter how well verified an injury is and, once a Patriots player is injured, he might as well be tossed into the garbage.

I hope this helps you to better understand the situation.

It's sad how true this is. There are people who want the two best players from the 2004 team, both of whom are Pro Bowl-caliber players between the ages of 29 and 31, gone (Brady and Seymour). It's a joke- we're incredibly spoiled as fans, and a vocal minority has taken this bizarre expectation of perfection to the point that I honestly don't blame the other fans in the league for hating us anymore. I live in SoCal, and I almost feel compelled to apologize when I explain that I'm from Boston and am a fan of the Boston teams.
