From SI's Is This Your Franchise Quarterback...

18. CAP ROONEY (Dennis Quaid) Any Given Sunday
Strengths: Cagey Veteran. Fictional accolades too many to enumerate.
Weaknesses: Back and Backbone. An injury to the former opened the door for Willie Beamen. Lack of the latter kept him from standing up to social-butterfly wife.
NFL equivalent: Tom Brady with a less-awesome spouse

I think a better NFL equivalent would be Drew Bledsoe or Joe Montana.

Umm...WHAT???? Don't get this at all. No offense....but If I wrote this thread it would have already been sent to the graveyard first of all, and I probably would have gotten a warning etc. You must know someone around here!!!!

Is this an opp. to show my ignorance? I haven't a clue what this is about, and I don't want a clue. Now back to FBall, please.

So you're saying Brady is "spineless" and has a mouthy wife?

Brady's a lot of things but spineless (no backbone) isn't one of them.

What the hell is going on here? Is that you Dee Milliner?

The worst thing for #12 is that his wife is having an affair... with me!

Just kidding, I turned down her overtures, plenty happy right where I am.

Sports Illustrated (SI) ran an article this week comparing fictional quarterbacks to real life quarterbacks. All the info in the post is from the article (hence 'From SI's Is This Your Franchise Quarterback').

If you haven't seen Any Given Sunday, the franchise QB is replaced when injured and a significant chunk of the plot is about the rise of this kid and scheming by ownership to keep the franchise QB on the bench.

An injury to the former opened the door for Willie Beamen. Lack of the latter kept him from standing up to social-butterfly wife.

I thought the comparison was better suited to Bledsoe than Brady.
