Tom Brady to be honored at home opener

Man I really hope the O Line is better this year in pass protection. Look at the Eagles D Line for a minute....Mac might be dead after week 1.

If you can’t handle the pressure you can’t handle the job. Tough game, but so is the schedule. They are probably better off getting the Eagles right out of the gate at home than later in the season when they have had time to get on a roll. And a win would give them great confidence going forward.
If they lose, and Mac Jones has a bad day, what would you do besides feel bad, assuming you had the power? You only spoke about them winning, what about losing? I hope they, the Patriots, win.

You always go for the win, you never concede. If Zappe wind the starting job then start him, but if you don’t play the best guy then the team isn’t going to believe in you, or themselves. If Jones can’t handle it he has no place on the field. This entire season is going to be one tough game after another, and they are going to have to play their asses off all season long.
I agree with you.

We can talk but I believe in what I said, regardless of the sport or game. If you aren’t out there to win then don’t show up. This is the highest level of the sport; that’s what you are being paid to do. You may not pull it off, but you always go for it. If Mac Jones is actually that fragile, then cut him today. I don’t believe that’s the case, but that’s what I would do if it were true.
We disagree regarding Mac Jones' ability in this conversation; he is fragile.

As soon as I had the time I would call Mac and apologize for my role in getting his feelings hurt. Then I would tell him that it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. After that I would ask him if he wants me to send Uber eats with some comfort food. Then I would get Sophie on the phone, ask her to pull him a warm bath, play some Zanfir, and tuck him in for a good nights sleep.

Hopefully that will toughen him up.

You mean a D-line that doesn't have Hargrave, Suh, Quinn or Joseph? A defense that is missing 2 starting LBs and will have 2 new starting safeties as well..

They lost 5 starters from that Defense.

Lol you think losing old men Suh, Quinn, and Joseph matter? The only big loss was Hargrave for the D line. They still have Hassan Reddick, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Josh Sweat, get Derek Barnett back, and have two very high upside rookies. If Jalen Carter keeps his head straight he will be a menace.

Derek Barnett? ROFLMAO. Kids been a bust.
It's amazing how you slam the ages of Suh, Joseph and Quinn but not the Ages of Graham and Cox (who were actually older).
That's a big if for Carter.

Funny how you ignored losing 4 starters in White, Epps, Garner-Johnson, and Edwards..

Quinn was a nonfactor, Joseph a run stuffer, and Suh you could make an argument for. Thats a whopping 1.5 sacks in total. Cox and Graham still produce and they have the rotation to keep the geezers fresh. The back end is a different story but I was talking specifically about the pass rush. They have Nakobe Dean to take over at LB so we'll see how he does. Epps is meh but Garner-Johnson was a big loss. They brought in some decent replacements tho so we'll see.

A little late with this, but I've swept all of the "Why didn't they keep Tom?" posts out of here since there are literally over 1000 posts discussing this in various threads since it happened almost four years ago. Let's let that go - or not, but people can continue arguing about it in the thread in the Brady forum - and leave this about the fact the GOAT will be there being appreciated on night one.

That also means that it looks like he's done for real this time. I doubt he'd accept the invitation if he still had that itch

I think the discussion is extremely relevant and pertinent to understanding this owner's perception, values, priorities and behavior, without cloaking it within six titles. As well as what we've been through and are continuing to experience since Tom left. So, I don't think the Brady forum is dwelling on the past.

Of course, I think football history going back 120 years is pertinent to today, so I guess I'm an old fossil.

There was a long Bradshaw-Steelers rift which time was able to bridge, because time offers perspective and reconciliation.

It looks like Kraft isn't interested in that at all. Like all of us, he's not perfect.

It amazes me how Kraft cares SO MUCH about the media and publicity but when he gets the chance to put his franchise's greatest traits in the spotlight he crawls into the bomb shelter.

I know, but it's literally been rehashed with over 1000 posts in here and we're now at the point where it's been almost four years and the guy's retired. So that's essentially why it's time to let it go.

We all know what happened, whether any of us agree with it or not (I think the vast majority of people here were/are frustrated it came to that, so I feel like most of us are on the same page there), but "it is what it is." It's definitely a footnote in history, but not one that we need to keep arguing about over and over since I think most people are more or less together about it. The only difference just seems to be to what extent it irritates them.
