MVP of the season so far: the launch guy.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen make waves on the Charles

The Boston Herald's Inside Track

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen caused quite a splash at Community Boating Inc. on Beacon Hill the other day when the New England Patriots QB/QT flipped his rented kayak and had to be fished out of the Charles River!

“They got wet,” said Someone Who Was There. “But they seemed to have a great time.”

According to our spies, Tom and Gi rented a pair of kayaks from the sailing club behind the Hatch Shell and the Community Boating bunch got them loaded in and on their way. At some point, however, Tom tipped over and couldn’t get back in the boat!

“He had to be rescued,” said our spy. “The launch guy went out and got him and got him back in the kayak. He’s been bragging about it ever since. He’s telling everyone he rescued Tom Brady.”

Well, he did!

“It was more embarrassment than real danger,” said Deep, er, River.

A spokesman for Community Boating confirmed that the couple had rented kayaks on Sunday but declined to provide any more deets.

Pats spokesguy Stacey James said he hadn’t heard about Tom’s kayak sack.

“He looked fine at the golf tournament,” he added.

Brady and his teammates teed off at the annual New England Patriots Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament at The International in Bolton yesterday.

Although boating apparently isn’t his sport, Tom does just fine on dry land. He came in second in the longest-drive competition yesterday with a 281-yarder. Tedy Bruschi beat him with a 287-yard bomb.

Nobody taught the man to do a roll?

Let's not go overboard here, it was just a slight mishap .

I think the reporters all wet on this one.

If Tom Brady gets soap in his eyes in the shower its front page news anymore

So how is this Titanic part II?? Football media not finding the stories?

calling it a "rescue" seems a bit much.

A guy with a relatively large frame, who doesn't kayak much, who tips over in the river

just might have a hard time getting himself back in the boat and upright.

That doesn't mean he was going down for the third time or something. A guy helped him get back into his little boat. that's all.

Holy **** this is a slow month...

I climb trees, he climbs bouys, motherf***er!

Well, the good news of course is that noone will blow this out of proportion and try to turn it into something more than it is--a story about a guy who fell out of a boat or kayak or whatever.

He's lucky that happened in Boston rather than up here in Maine.

Jeez! When I was learning how to whitewater kayak, I must've ejected a dozen or so times without being able to roll yet, dragged my head on plenty of rocks only to have to struggle to gather up my gear in the middle of a class 3-4 rapid. Was there anyone there to report it and put it in the paper. What does Tom got that I don't.....except the obvious of course.

Nobody taught the man to do a roll?

Doubtful it was a "real" kayak... the thing probably tipped and got swamped.

I don't think I want him attempting to roll anyways... I've seen a lot of people who are learning get stuck mid-way.

Wait... so Tom Brady doesn't walk on water????

He's lucky that happened in Boston rather than up here in Maine.

With Maine's temperatures, Tom might have say (in his best George Costanza voice)

"There was shrinkage!"
