I'm pretty sure they did. They might have done it for Lemieux as well? Can't remember for sure. They also retired Gretzky's number LEAGUE-WIDE. Obviously not something the NFL will (or should) do, but just shows that leagues will make exceptions to rules when the player is suitably special. Brady 100% fits that bill.

Some players transcend the game itself, there's a ton of good players in the hall and they're all great, none of the are TB.
