I think its becoming increasingly obvious that Brady left because of Belichick. But the underlying factor might be what McCourty was talking about yesterday, a new challenge. Being the first QB to win the superbowl in both conferences would be one hell of an accomplishment.

Everyone seems to throw out the theory that BB is awful to play for... no praise, no cuddles.

C’m’on. Every single non-Covid day, regular people are working with worse bosses who are horrendous people and they get paid next to nothing to do it.

BB is fair, for the most part. He’ll never throw you under the bus, will praise you on the way out. Sure, he’s demanding. But he’s “millionaire football demanding”. And, if you do what he asks, you can both (1) move on when your contract is up (2) and greatly benefit financially from working with him - as evidenced by the slew of massive contacts former Pats get on the open market.

BB wins and doesn’t let emotions rule his decisions. Glad he’s the coach and decision maker.

Arians isn’t Belichick but he isn’t terrible strategy wise either. His issue is relationships. It amuses me that people talk about coaching decisions BB makes as being about his arrogance/ego when everyone who has spoken about BB thinks he’s as ego-free as they come. Arians, on the other hand, is an egomaniac. For as much as he’s heralded as the QB whisperer, he’s directed the adulation towards himself and throws players under the bus. It’ll be interesting to see how Brady handles that when it rears its ugly head.

If not for Super Bowl LI, I'd be getting hosed down too. That game immunized me (I suppose LIII was a booster shot). By that time, Tom Brady had given me far, far more than what I would have dared ask of him, had I had the chance. This epilogue has been a bittersweet experience, but I'm cool about anything TB does at this point
