If you from Indiana, would you root for the Colts?
So I know this thread is mostly about jokes and roasting the Colts (which I'm
totally on board with, btw!), but you bring up an interesting point about fandom and regional loyalty. I grew up just outside of Boston, but I've lived in NY for most of my life. I still cheer for the Patriots -- obviously -- but I've lived in Bills territory long enough that for 14 weeks of the season, I'm at least a sympathizer to their plight. They're just so pathetic and sad that I feel bad for them.
I've even been to a Bills game with some friends and had a pretty good time, although in retrospect that may have been due to all the tailgating.
Now the question becomes, who will my sons follow? I've converted my in-laws into Patriots fans, but all of our friends and neighbors are Bills fans. I'll raise my sons to root for the Patriots, but I would also grudgingly respect a decision to root for the local team, if that's what they decide to do. Any other option would be meant with the appropriate scorn and corrective action, naturally, but I'm a sucker for hometown loyalty. I appreciate sticking with the local team, through thick and thin.
So, yes, if I were from Indiana, in some bizarro alt-timeline, then I suppose I would root for the Colts. Now excuse me while I go rinse myself in bleach for even typing that sentence.
