After the D lost us Super Bowl LII they won us LIII with perhaps the greatest defensive performance ever by a Belichick team, considering the opposing and today's rules.

Yup. After blowing last year's Super Bowl, the defense/Belichick definitely made up for it.

Would've been a lot sweeter to win that game than this one, IMO. Wasted a 500+ yard performance.

THE unsung play of the game IMO.

Impossible to name every player that made a big play, but Kyle Van Noy has been elevated to Vrabel/Ninkovich status, as a "special teams" guy brought in off the scrap heap who slowly builds into a vital starter who makes big plays to win Super Bowls.

Gilmore had an All-Pro season, WALL to WALL.

Harmon and Jason McCourty stepped up BIG TIME when Chung went out. That had the potential to ripple into a lot of problems, but they barely missed a beat.

And Chung himself... made a few great plays before getting injured, then got his ass back on the sideline as soon as possible to cheer on his guys.

Can't say enough about how this unit came together in this playoffs!

The McCourty and Harmon plays on Cooks were huge. Gilmore had a great game too. The fumble he forced will get overlooked as we didn't recover but it was a textbook play. If Hightower had come down with that INT he would have been MVP. He was a force rushing Goff all night. The D played lights out on the biggest stage. Perfect after last year.

Man, all these guys on D showed up today. From Shelton, to Van Noy to Gillmore, to DMAC, that entire D showed up!
