The Patriots rarely indulge in bidding wars. They set a value and stick to it. Seems to work as no other team has done better than them this millennium.
Yep, he's gone and good riddance. His agent wanted nothing more than a bidding war to drive up his perceived value. And he even might have had a message from Philly to go out and see what he could get, as he's stated he prefers staying with them. There are other fish in the sea.
This is not a player the Pats would want for any more than one season as it is. If they could have "stolen" one season from him while he attempts to drive up his value, that might have been good. Anything more is not worth the risk and headache.
I don't I don't get why people are acting like him receiving another offer is an automatic deal breaker. We don't know the details, or if it is more, less, or the same as the Patriots offered. We don't know enough for everyone to start shutting the door on him.
Well they probably know what we offered so they probably offered at least as much and maybe more. Plus as others have said I don't think we'll be getting into a bidding war over this guy.
So that's why he's trying out for the Titans, Dolphins and 49ers and turned down the Pats offer?I get the impression Donte would like to prove a few people wrong. Being a big part of a Superbowl-winning team would go a long way in that.
