It’s no secret the most emotional moment to come out of every NFL Draft is the instant a college player finds out they’ve been selected and dreams become reality.
So over social media this past weekend, NFL Films shared a behind-the-scenes look at the moment Western Kentucky quarterback Bailey Zappe received a phone call from Bill Belichick when the Patriots took him with the 137th overall pick.
Check out Zappe celebrating with his family in the tweet below.

“I’ve been crying the whole time,” Zappe told his agent in response to a question about his excitement.
Although Mac Jones is the starter, Zappe could provide the Patriots some added depth in the quarterback room as Brian Hoyer nears retirement and an uncertain future for Jarrett Stidham coming off an injury.
During his final collegiate season at Western Kentucky, Zappe lit up the stat sheet with 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns, both FBS single-season records.
“I got drafted by the Patriots,” Zappe later said. “I don’t know how to put it into words. This is a dream come true for me. Everybody started crying I started crying. It’s just a surreal moment … Top moment in my life ever.”
