Timing the Snap Count and Contact between WRs vs. DBs

I was watching the game at a bar with too many loud Lions and Vikings fans with no commentary. So I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the Bills DLine seemed to have our snap count down? They did get a few offsides calls, but for most of the game they seemed to get a good jump on each play. What was the deal with that? I was waiting for a Brady hard count or cadence change, but never really saw any adjustment there.

Also, there seemed to be a few plays where there could have been contact between the Bills DBs and our WRs. Did anyone see if there were a lot of illegal contact and PI or were our WRs just not getting any separation at all?

Lot of questionable calls in the game. Many should have been called on the bills. Everything was against the pats today and they fought through it.

Actually the Bills got called for many key penalties. But holding calls seemed to either off the board, and not significant enough to call (no separation)

But we had even worse luck with very bad turn-overs.

Thompkins was getting held without it being called much like Jones last year, at least Jones drew the illegal hands to the face call on what would have been a sack today.

Wendell was tipping the snap a lot today, the nod of the head was a dead give away there was rarely a delay from the nod of the head and the ball being snapped.

As for the holding, I think McKelvin just wanted KT's jersey

Seems silly to me to emphasize some rules (Mayo personal foul) and completely ignore others (anything on defensive backs).

I noticed a few times the Patriots got very close to the play clock running down and the Bills pinned their ears back and came across knowing Brady had to snap.

The Patriots all day were late to the line. Well, maybe not late for normal, but much later than we're accustomed to seeing in recent years. Brady had enough time to point out the Middle LB and then enough time to go to his foot stomp, but it seemed much easier to time when the clock was running down than we're used to seeing where Brady has the opponent's line down in their three point stance for 20 seconds.

I was wondering if the dwindling play clock was part of the problem, which as you pointed out gives away the snap. I noticed Brady had to point out some routes to some of the WRs too. Spikes went out with dehydration and I wonder if the temperature and it being the first game led to some early fatigue for players not getting to the line quickly.

There were two instances of a Bills player (same guy, #55) jumping the snap count and getting caught. Brady also drew them offsides with a cadence change once. But for the most part, the Bills indeed were coming hard and fast off the snap. Thought the O-Line acquitted themselves very well indeed although they missed a few blitzes. Seems the Bills stopped calling them once the Patriots adjusted.

Whether or not that is true, I have no idea. I personally did not notice it myself, but I'm sure if that was the case someone reviewing film will notice and correct the issue.

I remember thinking this same thing (C head-bob) after some game last year; I also think it might have been talked about in a thread; but dont remember the result of the discussion (or the game for that matter).

I'd like to hear more on this from some of the other posters who review the games and watch film. Now I am quite curious, especially if it has happened and been brought up before.

This is the first I am hearing of it. Unfortunately I am not as observant as some others, so I didn't notice it myself.
