But why the FU attitude?
The NFL is a great league and has made Belichick a very rich man.

While I am sure that the overreaction to spygate will have stoked BB's FU attitude toward inane NFL policies and mosquito sledge hammering cowboy bureaucracy, I think he always had that FU attitude.

He doesn't like being told to wear stupid clothing for the purpose of promoting the sale of official gear.

He views accurate injury reporting to be akin to handing over his play book to the opposition.

He doesn't like rules on the books that are not really enforced.

It is just part of who BB is. You accept or reject the man in his entirety. What you see is what you get. Love him or hate him, that's who he is and he is not going to change for anyone.

I don't think it's an "FU" as much as it is trying to highlight the abuse of these things. It's a sham. It purports to have a practice, but BB sees other coaches manipulated it and it offends him, and so he files his silent little protest by complying with the rules to the letter but making fun of their "spirit."

In actuality, BB is giving more information. When he lists Brady and his shoulder for five consecutive years, he knows nobody takes it seriously and reads it as exactly what it means -- Our QB is fine.
