Paul Perillo gives us what we want about Thursday morning's session. It includes this:

Play of the day: One of Gostkowski’s kickoffs was particularly long and appeared
to go through the goal posts. Given the ideal kicking conditions with temperatures
still soaring well into the 90s, the long kicks are understandable. But sending an NFL kickoff
through the goal posts is impressive nonetheless.

Sure, but can he make a drop kick?

The kickoff was the play of the day.... very inspiring

Would that be an 87-yard field goal? Kickoff from 30-yd-line = 70 yds + 17 yds = 87 yds.

Now if he can do that in the snow ...

80 because on a kickoff they wouldn't be snapping it back to him. And you can't compare kickoffs to FG due to the trajectory. But, yeah, nice kick.

Right, you have to clear the blockers. Good point.

Does that count as a Field Goal ?

Thanks for the link. Gostkowski's my boy! Been on him (figuratively) since before the draft. Been on my wife (literally) for the last hour.

So far, both Kickers are doing great. Gramaticas KO's have been good as well.

Gramatica probably wins the roster spot becuase of experience. Theres talk of Gostowski landing on the practice squad. I dont think he will last there but what else do you do?

It's called IR. When they feel they have a player that they don't want to loose, but won't make it past waivers. I mistery injury will sudden'y appear and they will hit the IR for the year.

If we're only holding two QB's we could have Gost as the kickoff specialist, and Gramatica doing the shorter field goals. If we are way ahead or behind, Gost could come in and do everything.

Sure; when in doubt, cheat.

Grammatica is here to push the kid, nothing more. He won't make this team.
