With the news of Thuney's upcoming (reportedly minor) foot surgery (that shouldn't keep him out from 2018 games) . Reiss offers nice overview of OL depth/versatility ..

Joe Thuney's offseason work altered by upcoming foot surgery

It will be interesting to see if it affects his TC participation (possibly starting on PUP; for the moment Reiss predicts just limited participation in following OTAs that could include minicamp..).

At the moment Pats are keeping 16 OLs on the roster which is one more than the norm for 90 roster . but with news on Thuney and unclear injury situation with Cannon, Garcia, Jelks (although reports suggest they should be ready to go) they might keep them all for the moment while the roster still churns..

Wish had would have done this earlier, but maybe there is a reason we do not know.. either that or the mantra of "Walk it Off" did not apply to this injury....

Glad to see the predictions of him being back by TC...

Yea. Impossible to know. Because of the benefit of the offseason and knowing they had time on their side maybe they tried rest and rehab first before opting for surgery.

From what I understand, for certain types of foot/toe injuries, going immediately for surgery doesn't always result in the best medical outcome.

As long as they don't rush him back, he should be good. I feel that is what happened to Dez Bryant. When he had that initial foot injury/surgery a few years ago, they rushed him back and it made it worse, in my opinion.

Aaron Dobson was also rushed back from his injury imo.

Hopefully they let him heal even if he misses most of TC.

What is the difference between minor and major surgery?

Before this thread ends, we'll read this: His career is over. He'll be fortunate to survive until Memorial Day (fittingly.)
