Thoughts on todays cuts

I thought Moe and Grissom played pretty poorly in the preseason and didn't expect either to make the team. The other cuts were basically unknown long shots.

Moe was a highly regarded signing who was injured in the off-season and did not play a down.

It's the log jam.

Doubt BB gives up an asset just because they are a long shot.

Players do come with costs, too. In addition to $$, every extra body divides trainers' time that much more, as well as coaches' attention at OTAs, etc. At some point long-shotness presumably has to tip the balance to where an "asset" is no longer a "net asset"?

Even so, why clean house in one day. Some of those players were on the practice squad. I don't see what would change from that to giving up in 6 weeks.

New calender year starts at 4 PM today.

McGuffie was signed to the PS December 27, Reed was signed to the PS December 30. They were members of the team from week 17 on only.

Fisher and Hines failed Physicals.

Moe, Grissom, Schwab, Hines and Fisher were on IR all season long.

A slot receiver and an Achilles injury doesn't sound like a good combination. The others probably wouldn't have been on the team at all if they weren't on IR. There is nothing unusual about these types of moves.

The timing presumably has to do with the start of the new league year today. Not only are any workout bonuses, etc. in play, but a player injured working out at the facility is yours for the full season.

What would you gain by keeping them for 6 weeks?
