The Pats are getting Dominique Easley back PLUS 5 of the first 97 picks in this year's draft!

2015 New England Patriots Draft:
1 first round pick
1 second round pick
2 third round picks (includes Denver's comp for Talib signing)
2 fourth round picks (one of which is the #1 pick of the fourth round - Tampa for the Mankins trade)
1 sixth round pick (#1 pick of the sixth rd- Tampa Casillas trade our 5th for their 6th, a difference of 1 spot )
2 seventh round picks (one of which is the #2 of the seventh round - from Tenn from the Ayers trade which included our 6th for their 7th a difference of 2 spots)

Plus hopefully a pick or two from the colts for deflategate but thst's wishful thinking

Some comments on the comments

1. I think we should all know by now that checking a roster and making determinations of who will be better is NOT a good way to predict how good a team will be. Superbowl winners aren't determined on paper.

2. We should all know that there is a lot of luck and good fortune to even get to a superbowl. Luck with injuries are foremost. For the first time in a long time, last season was a good one for the Pats with injuries, and STILL we lost our defensive captain, starting RB, and #1 draft pick. You also have to get lucky in games with a few good call and/or bounces. Just look at the GB/Seattle game, or the Dallas, Detroit game. Sometimes great football isn't enough.

3. Never underestimate the toll a superbowl run takes not only on the team, but the organization. 87% of the teams FO's have had about a month lead on us in preparing for next season. 87% of the players in the league have a month longer to heal, and far fewer hits to recover from. The combine is just 2 weeks away and the Pats staff haven't had a day off since early last July. The fact is that you never get that month back

4. The players not only need a break, so does BB and his guys. They need some time to relax and unwind, or they will burn out. Fortunately BB knows through trial and error the best ways to avoid it, but the issue still exists. Its a great problem to have, but it still IS a problem

5. There is no question that this team is going to be significantly better than last year's version. for the following reason (and assuming most of everyone comes back)

a. The OL will continue to improve with talent upgrades from the draft and/or FA
b. Continuity with the WR group will bring improvements there
c. The Defense as a whole is very young and the key parts are just now entering their primes
d. The DL will continue to improve with new additions from the draft and Easley, and FA

6. That being said, while I feel confident that this team is good enough to predict another run to the playoffs, trying to predict what happens in the next 3 or 4 games is just a guess.

I know you are baking in assumptions and hypotheticals but I think you are jumping the gun that the 2015 team will be significantly better. I'll play Negative Nelly for a moment.

Let's assume no injuries...

-VW could walk and his replacement is the second coming of Ron Brace
-Revis could walk
-DMC could walk
-Mayo may not be the same player or also walk
-The mid-season reinforcements don't step up in larger roles (Ayers, Branch)
-The talent that was brought in to replace Wendy and Connolly is worse
-SB hangover- see 2002
-Tom Brady will be 38. Some players slow down gradually. Some hit the back of a semi and are never the same. At 38 Elway hit the wall, was babied all year and a Super Bowl was a result. At 38 Steve Young took a hit and was never the same. Montana's last year was at 38 and he was above average. Manning started strong but his legs quit on him at 38. Favre was very good into his late 30s early 40s. He is the lone exception.

Ho hum, another Super Bowl for the Pats. (Hello visiting team trolls, yes we are spoiled, yes we are arrogant, deal with it).

However February 7, 2016 would be THE BIG ONE:

- Brady 5 Rings - Most for any QB ever
- Belichick 5 Rings - Most for any HC ever

The Game will be at the 49ers new stadium...........Tom Brady's hometown.

Notice how last year at MetLife, Joe Willie Namath was the local HOF face of the festivities?
This year, Kurt Warner was the local HOF face of the festivities?

Next year in SF? Yup, Tom Brady's childhood idol who stabbed him in the back last week.

Legacy Game.

Yep. If there was ever a time to go all in, it's next year. In spite of what he says, I doubt Brady will be playing (effectively) into his 40's. 2015 might be his last rodeo for all we know. Got the QB in waiting already drafted and a great group of young core players under contract. Worry about 2016 and beyond when they come--a title next year would remove all doubt about the greatest dynasty, coach and QB in NFL history.
