This team deserves an apology from me

My son had a soccer game today and i tuned in and got on this site (game thread) in the 3rd quarter 1/2 way through ... the team got tough from there.

I deserve some praise ... it was all me.

If this was a sports movie, we'd all hug or something. Thank goodness it's not.

Things did look ugly, but gotta remember this is a young team, especially on D. There are going to be ugly moments. But each drive, each game, they're learning and getting better.

The 2006/2007 defenses frustrated me because they were trending downwards, but we're fortunate to watch this solid young defense continue to mature before our eyes. It's frustrating at times but we're moving in the right direction.

This. Mayo, Chung, Spikes, Cunningham, McCourty, Deadrick....what more could you ask for in watching the defensive transformation that's underway. (Would asking Butler to step up and meet the lofty expectations we had of him be getting too greedy?)

Watched the first half, then had to go to Logan. Spent most of the third and fourth quarter in a check-in line with my daughter off watching a coffee shop TV and bringing back up-dates. When we were finally sorted, it was 20-20 at the end of the 4th! But the OT was enough for anyone.

Old-style Patriots win! (And maybe another step in seasoning the young guys. It's astonishing how many were playing. I'm starting to feel real hope for the front seven of the D.)

McCourty got flagged for a PI call in the first half for not turning his head around. But late in the game, he had his head turned around in time and knocked the pass away easily. It was extremely satisfying to see how quickly Devin learned that lesson and applied it.

And not too greedy at all. I still have high expectations of Butler. Arrington looks better than he has too. Still not sure what to make of him though. Was hoping to see Brace out there, but Deaderick was a pleasant surprise. And don't forget undrafted Fletcher playing late in the 4th and in OT in sub packages, making some plays as well.

I have experienced the delight of rooting for football teams that made huge 4th quarter comebacks this weekend.

Of course, one was the Patriots game.

The other was the NEFL team my nephew plays for, the CT Gamblers. They had a semi-final play-off game Saturday. A late first half score put the opponent (North Shore Generals) up 15-2, and the score was still 15-2 going into the fourth. With 9-10 minutes left in the game, they faced a 3 & 20 from around their 20 yard line. They hit on a pass play then the receiver blasted through the safeties to score a long touchdown. Despite a late pick which the opponent used to drive into the red zone (they missed a field goal), they then drove down the field for the winning TD, 16-15 with 1:40 left. They followed that up with a line drive kickoff that barely cleared the head of the deep men (kick-offs don't typically travel real far in this league) and bounced all the way through the endzone. The North Shore went 3 and out.
I quit on this team today. When the Ravens got the TD to make it 17-7, the way things were looking at that point, I was very close to leaving my computer (internet game feed) and leaving the house to go find something to do. I figured it was about to get ugly. I stuck it out anyway.

What a turnaround. The offense really clicked in the 4th quarter and OT and the defense simply dominated from that point on. It was simply beautiful what this team did today.

My apologies to every member of this team. You showed more heart today than I did, that's for certain. Outstanding job getting this win today.

The fans today were pathetic. I hate the Jets, but there fans are way better than ours. Hate to say it, but it's true.

Our team's way better though.

Not all the fans, BTH, not all the fans. I've lost my voice today and was beating on seats... and i didn't boo the pats once. I did however use the F word a few times, especially in the first 3 quarters.... but i was back screaming again on the next D play, and so were many around me. we are the SRO dogs- we don't have seats, we don't need seats except to beat on and then we lean over the rail and wail!! Great game to be at!

If nothing else, that comment for some reason made me look up the NEFL.

Gotta' love the names of the teams that have come and gone under the history tab: Lawrence Lightning, Rockingham Reapers, Seacoast Rage, Massachusetts Havoc, Tri-boro Rhinos, Greater Lowell Nor'easter, Quincy Granite, Western Maine Rolling Thunder, Southern Maine Raging Bulls, ...
