Things I will miss about BB

even though I have consistently been one of his harshest critics over past 5 years I will miss:

1. His mental toughness
2. His discipline
3. The gravitas he brings to the table both for his own players and other teams
4. He was feared by other teams, especially qbs
5. Players listened to him
6. He earned his head coaching shots
7. He could often come up with brilliant defensive game plans

His GM decisions obviously did him in but the swag he carried around with him will be missed

I still think Mayo is not the coach this franchise deserves. A more qualified and experienced coach should have been sought after. Vrabel deserved the shot.
Some red flags already popping up with Mayo.
When Pats are 4-13 players will tune him out quickly, his inclusive player friendly buddy buddy, back slapping approach only works for winning organizations.

Pete Carrol was a failure here b/o players friendly approach.

If it means anything, Bill was very quick to tell Mayo he should be a coach.

Saying he's all about building relationships and giving players the support they need to succeed. He said all this stuff a while ago and in more recent interviews.

Belichick always admitted fault like not doing a good job coaching after a loss. BB is not a Narcissist.

Except she only wants his money. She almost definitely finds him physically repulsive and absolutely doesn’t want in his pants. And she is 100% banging young guys on the side.

Bill is 75 and wants any form of companionship, authenticity he damned. I sort of get it, might as well have a good looking one hanging around you.

No one can be Coach Bill, ever. Mayo is a rookie head coach. We shall see. Can he evaluate cituations, can he coach up, can he lead in tough times. We shall see. Give him time.. let's see how much he has absorbed.

( For Sam’s benefit) There’s a big difference between the situation Carroll came into, and the one Mayo is taking over. Carroll came into a team that had just loss the Super Bowl, and the leaders of that team were Parcells guys, so when they saw him as a joke right off the bat it filtered through to the rest of the team, and Carroll really never got a handle on it. Mayo, on the other hand, has been coaching all along, and his ascension was pretty obvious. He’s probably a players coach, but he’s already got good working relationships within the team, and this team is coming from the bottom of the barrel, not the Super Bowl. That said Mayo has to win to really gain respect, and they aren’t likely to win much this season regardless of who the coach is, so he’s going to have the show them progress down the stretch to start getting them to buy in for the 25’ season. Then he’s going to have to show serious improvement in wins over the next couple of years after that. Replacing Belichick is a huge role to fill, but it’s not like they had any choice because 100% hard ass 24/7/365 had run its course, and they had to change it up.

Agree completely. Trying to be someone you are not never works, let alone coaching in pro sports

Not to toot my OWN horn but Hes the coach i found myself disagreeing with the least. Also 4th and 2 was a great call imo. Cant believe how much crap he got for it. Id have done that 10 times outta 10.

I hated the call, but Faulk got a horrible spot. He was clearly over the first down line when where his forward progress was stopped. However, the ref claimed he was bobbled it and didn’t gain control until he behind the first down mark. I zoomed in as much as I could, but I don't see any bobbling.

It looked to me that even if he did bobble it, he still hauled it in at the 30 yard line right where they needed to get. Indy got a very lucky ruling on that

Actually, @captain stone , the two things are compatible.

BB's ego was enormous, yes, but rock-solid. He didn't need to have it pumped up by the public, press or players. He didn't need constant bro-hugs like his boss or a therapist to help him deal with the unfairness of life like the GOAT quarterback.

At his best, he listened to others and learned from his mistakes because he was really, really smart; really, really hardworking; and really, really wanted to win.

Yes, at the end, he went Captain Ahab. But you should give him credit for the good stuff, oh captain, my captain.
