For me this is only an option if we don't resign Austin Hooper.

I'd prefer to take advantage of the depth of this class in the mid/late rounds but he's worthy of a top 10 pick at least.

I want Hooper back.

I do like his glasses lol

I'm not sure Austin Hooper is a block to the drafting of the best TE in the class especially as Henry is a FA at the end of the season. The roster can handle three TEs.

Now who's picking an argument just for the sake of it lol

His biggest competition is not really close when it comes to production last year and don't sleep on his running ability.

He’s an older prospect who never really produced until his final year. Put me in the unconvinced camp in the top 10. Should be a good player but I don’t really want to draft a guy that will be 29 when he is getting his next contract. You take Membou, Graham, Campbell, or many others and you are looking at 10 years service if you hit.

Who will be 29 by their next contract?

Henry’s actually under contract for the next 2 years, although his 2026 base salary of $7,150,000 isn’t guaranteed. But i don’t think that changes the overall conclusion. Although I must admit I’m leery because of the analysis someone posted last month showing that almost all the 1st round TEs drafted in the last 10 years have disappointed relative to draft position.

Warren. Unless I’ve read the wrong information he is 24 now and will turn 25 during the season. So at the end of his rookie deal he will be 29.

he will be 23 in May

Info is incorrect. He was born on May 24, 2002. He's currently 22 and will be 23 in his Rookie Season. So, he'll be 28 going into his 6th Season. He's only about a year older, or the same age as most of the Top TE Prospect's. Luke Lachey is currently 23 and will be 24 in his Rookie Season. Loveland is 20 and will be 21 in his Rookie Season. It's not a Kyle Dugger/Keion White 24 to 25 in their Rookie Seasons that old situation.

I've already made it known that I think the resigning of Hooper takes Warren off the board for us unless it's in a trade down that backfires if we are targeting a Josh Simmons.

I don't think that's necessarily the case. Hooper is a one year deal and Henry can be cut at the end of the year for 9m in savings. I think they can carry a 3rd TE and not have to rely on him completely but give him chance to develop. They may not be interested, but I don't think the Hooper signing prevents it if they are.

If Warren is close to Gronk, or at least has the talent to be considered in the top half of the first round, the presence of Henry and Hooper won’t affect us taking him.

Think a great choice is to trade back a bit and pick up Warren, makes me think of the great QB/TE combos in the NFL.. he would grow up in the NFL with Maye..
We have seen him many times while playing for Ohio, that body of evidence shows to me this kid is a big time "baller" who will fit in nicely with a Josh McD offense...

Take everything said pre-draft with a pinch of salt, but this suggests to me Tyler Warren is unlikely to be the pick.
