Ya notice the 2 best TEs in football were in the Superbowl? Kittle, kelce. Previous year best TE , Gronk won it. Coincidence??

Lots of chat last year about weapons, Brady's frustrated antics, thrown away balls. 27th ranked completion%.... Can it be just simplified to Gronk walking away , then dinking around and not coming back in the 11th hour when it became so obvious they needed him?

Yes it is a coincidence.

They won it in 2016 w/o Gronk.

I wonder how gronk will look in a Bucs uni.

That will never happen.
Yeah ok. I am not going to discount anything currently.

And before everyone jumps on me... I know he's under contract still.

Um.. martellus Bennett and Gronk was in 8 games.

Plus Brady was younger. .. since part of this discussion is how limited older QBs are more dependant on scheme , and excellent personnel to help them.

Marty was part of a cog in a SB win. He wasn't amongst the best TEs in football.

Excellent personnel helps every QB.

You are overthinking this.

He looks really stupid in WWE. o_O

His CBD is non THC.

So, the whole drug thing does not apply if Gronk comes back. It would not shock me at all if Gronk joined Brady in TB. Arians is supposed to be a players coach and one of the guys. 180 degrees from BBs style which Gronk complained about.

Not really.. the TE is critical to both running and passing. Plus an easier target for QB.

Your kinda weak example of 2016 is arguably the best TE combo ever for a team . Gronk went down injured but the position was still strong. Then the super bowl was won by a quasi miracle. And Bennet drew a key penalty that won it.

The premise of your argument is the need for a great TE to win a SB.

There are multiple teams that have won SBs w/o an All-Pro TE.

Sorry. You have failed in prove your argument.

Bennett had the 9th most yards for a TE in 2016 and 3rd for TDs.

And he was at the very least an effective blocker. Unlike for example Jimmy Graham.

Bennett was basically undisputably a top 10 TE in 2016 if not top 5.

Bill had an insatiable appetite for TEs.....until he didn’t

Yes but he was not an All-Pro TE in 2016.

The OP says the only way to win SBs is to have an All-Pro TE.

Gronk wasn't All-Pro in 2018. A year specifically called out as an example. Although the OP does label 2018 is the best TE in football, so who knows.

Value does not equate to elected awards. Start there. The op is raising the point that TE is a disproportionately more valuable position . Gronk was world class blocker and reliable decoy even if you don't throw to him.

People that cry about weapons , should zip it and say a good TE based offense with Edelman , dorsett, white , burkhead, Meyers , Harry.... Is more than plenty.... And mcD kinda crapped out by not developing TE position.

Not having an effective TE was likely the biggest weakness on the team last year as it hurt both the run and pass game. The Pats became incredibly predictable and did not have the raw talent to overcome that. Brady's numbers typically suffered when Gronk was out. 2016 was an exception but as stated they had Bennett to fill in. I do not think it is absolutely necessary to have an All Pro TE to win it but it is certainly a major plus.

I wouldn't mind trading Gronk's rights to the Bucs.....

Yes McDaniels inherited O'Brien's 2TE offense with Gronk and Hernandez but you can see he doesn't value TEs. Hopefully he sees now. Last year tried to recreate the anemic 2005 offense with no good TEs or WRs. Keep the QB under center more. You need good TEs to help support the run attack plus be a key red zone and third down target.
