The TOM BRADY appreciation thread

Funny that you'd mention Yaz. I remember when he was one of the first players to get a $100K contract and he got boos at Fenway for jogging down to 1st on a grounder. Now players make 100M and fans grovel at their feet no matter what they do.

Baseball players back then were complete players. Hit, defense, run. Whole enchilada. Pitchers pitched deep into games.

Today everyone is a specialist.

Best and most exciting peak-level player I've ever seen. No one pitching today is half as good as Pedro. What he did really did seem to defy physics.

What made him so tough was that all of his pitches (he had a few different ones) looked the same coming off his hand. He also had great control.

Tom has to be the Boston GOAT, not only for his incredible sports accomplishments, but by far he is way more handsome than Orr, Williams, Russell, Bird, Pedro, and Big Papi. No one can dispute this fact.

I think that today in baseball they go more for hitters at every position and ignore the defensive specialists.

They want homers.

The ball is juiced and steroid use ignored.

Bobby Orr = Always in the discussion as the GOAT
Gordie Howe played with a bunch of greats including Rocket Richard.

He said Bobby's the best. So did Milt Schmidt. I believe them. And my eyes (I saw Gretzky play too).

Bill Russell = Should always be part of the discussion as the GOAT
I saw Baylor, West, Robertson, Havlicek, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Jordan, O'Neal, Bryant and James play.

Bill wasn't a great shooter although he could have scored more if he'd wanted to.

Wilt remains a phenomenal player who will always be in the discussion.

I want to win the game. That's my priority.

That puts Russell and Orr head and shoulders above ALL the rest. Period.

And, the same goes for Tom Brady. It's been obvious to me since 2001.

The Bruins had pretty good players. HOF Espo would park his rear end in front of the net and send gravy rebounds home. Bucyck is in the HOF. Hodge, Sanderson, McKenzie, Cashman, Westfall, Stanfield, Vadonais were all lunch pail guys.

The 71 Stanley Cup Champs

Phil Esposito had 66 goals and 67 assists
Bobby Orr had 37 goals and 80 assists PLUS, Bobby Orr played defense. Incredible, smart, tough defense. Teddy Green was some help back there, but he took a stick to the head and was never the same player after that.

Orr was like Mike Jordon and just made every guy around him better.

What a ride! Last ask, please just get one more TD to pull ahead of Manning.

Thank you for everything.

Thanks for listening Tommy! Suck it Peyton!

Yeah thanks for the pick-6 Tommy...I appreciate it...It was only, like, you know, the difference in the game...

One of the story lines hanging over Saturday's game is the possibility that it could be Brady's final game at Gillette, as a Patriot or otherwise. None of us knows how much of a possibility. Could be the finale, or could be the last home game of his third-to-last season here.

So I've been wondering — what should the crowd do as the game draws to a close? Something? Anything? Nothing?

I guess I'm thinking that, win or — you know — maybe there will be a big loud and resounding BRADY! BRADY! chant. We won't know at the time whether it's to say "good bye" or "please stay" or just "thank you". (It could even be "see you in two weeks ...") It just strikes me as a bit odd to imagine the stadium emptying out without some sort of vocal crowd tribute, just in case.

Thoughts?

i would be shocked if there wasn't the brady chant. that simply happens in most playoff games. i think it will happen win or... win.

Love this man. It's hard watching him play poorly but he's 42. And his support sucks. Harry and Sanu stink. Same with our tight ends like has-ben Watson
