How many times do we see people in here complaining about Felger or Borges or Shank Shaugnessey or Massaroti? It's because those guys are deliberately controversial and deliberately get people as riled up as possible, and then laugh themselves all the way to the bank when we respond.

I understand the point you are making.

That said, I dont think its a gimmick with these guys -they are just in a profession where loud mealy mouthed, abrasive, know-it-all megalomaniacal asshats end up doing better than their objective, less polarising counterparts with less "personality".

These guys arent pretend a-holes, but actual a-holes given free rein to be themselves that are then sprinkled with an inflated dose of their own power from all the attention they get and from being a big fish in a little pond.

So when when someone like Belichick comes along with real intelligence and real power (and an obvious disdain for them) it must drive them mad.

Yes, I think its personal with these guys.. that and I think these guys actually buy into their own big-fish, perpetual critiquing role and actually start tricking themselves into thinking that yes, they could do it better.

I actually don't think Florio is anti-Pats. I *do* think Florio is pro-anything (anything!) that will get him more web page clicks...regardless of whether or not that "anything" is actually news. He is throwing paint on a wall to see what sticks. The Pats are the news du jour and he's just milking all that he can out of it.

The internet's great for getting news fast; it's just the quality of that news that's fallen through the floor. Florio's site is a gossip rag for the NFL, nothing more.

I've had it with PFT and that smarmy pretender Florio. The site's anti-Patriots bias is crystal clear. It seems that every time they write a sweeping indictment of BB or the team and I post a fact-based retort, it's deleted. Here is today's nonsense from those crapheads:

...I think it was the other way around - Pioli benefitted and where he is today likely because of his work and learnings under Belichick's regime....not the other way around.

Ask Josh Mcdaniels,Eric Mangini,ect: of how they would have been without the presence of Bill in their coaching careers.

Bill is not asked to be challenged maybe because he doesn't need to be.

Maybe someone should challenge Florio to being a sports writer with less bias or resentment.

Truth is generally irrelevant. The point of most mainstream media is to evoke a powerful emotion and to try and represent both sides and pit them against each other in an opinion based forum/presentation.

Opinions can't be denied and most people have a tenancy or "need" to convince someone that they are wrong and to change their mind. And the funny thing is many many people seem to fall for this trap and think because they have an opinion they can be part of the story or have the right to be heard (or even to a degree be told they are right).

People who seek the middle ground (or see a valid point for both sides) are often ridiculed. It's like people only want to hang out with similar closed minded individuals.

That make any sense?

What I've noticed is slightly different. The media outlet, be it MSNBC, FOX or even a sports site like E!SPN or PFT has two stages for all stories:

Stage #1: A is awesome. Look how A pulled out of a bad upbringing, or recovered from the silver spoon curse.
Stage #2: A is only slightly better than Hitler. When A was growing up he used the 'N'-word, or killed small animals.
(e.g. Belichick is a genius/cheater. The Patriot Way)

Any facts getting in the way of the story will be ignored. In either stage.

Then there are the "big" but irrelevant stories involving either a dead blond in her 20s or a minority (black, gay, something non-you) being killed by a racist whitey. Again, facts are irrelevant.(e.g. Tebow)

Yeah it's completely accurate. I hate it, I can say the exact same thing to my wife and mother and my mother will tell me its too liberal and my wife will tell me its too conservative, same friggin thing. It's like reading facts and forming your own opinion is frowned upon in this country now, we must be force fed our opinions by Fox and MSNBC.

Tunescribe, that's the world we're living in today, and it covers not only sports, but everything else. I really don't know where moderation, civility and reason went or how to get them back. But I do know it was better for everyone when we had them.
