I've had it with PFT and that smarmy pretender Florio. The site's anti-Patriots bias is crystal clear. It seems that every time they write a sweeping indictment of BB or the team and I post a fact-based retort, it's deleted. Here is today's nonsense from those crapheads:

Lack of Pioli leaves Belichick unchallenged | ProFootballTalk

Screw them.

The world would be a better place if people just ignored him. Unfortunately, even if Florio disappeared forever, some other douchewaffle would just rear up to take his place.

I do find this particular argument funny, though. Anyone with half a brain - check that, any brain whatsoever - can see how much NE's player acquisition has improved since Pioli left. Plus, Bill is one of the most open minded coaches in any sport, repeatedly seeking outside ideas to improve his team, whether it be college coaches or statistical breakdowns run by 3rd party sites.

Florio must know how ridiculous this argument is and is really just relying on his readers being too stupid to do anything other than take his word for it. Sad that he's built a lucrative career on just that.

It's not an open forum.

The owner was an ambulance chaser.

The owner is a biased fan of another football team.

The owner has marginal football acumen.

The owner is also an asshat. And that's being unkind to asshats.

Not clicking on Florio links

I was having a conversation with someone about the media the other day and he's a summary of how I feel.

Truth is generally irrelevant. The point of most mainstream media is to evoke a powerful emotion and to try and represent both sides and pit them against each other in an opinion based forum/presentation.

Opinions can't be denied and most people have a tenancy or "need" to convince someone that they are wrong and to change their mind. And the funny thing is many many people seem to fall for this trap and think because they have an opinion they can be part of the story or have the right to be heard (or even to a degree be told they are right).

People who seek the middle ground (or see a valid point for both sides) are often ridiculed. It's like people only want to hang out with similar closed minded individuals.

That make any sense?

At the end of another article trolling for clicks from Pats haters this is more or less what Florio said:

"Normally I wouldn't mention this as news, but since it's the Patriots I will mention it".

Tells you all you need to know about his agenda. That was enough for me to stop taking him seriously.

It is also funny that all moronic posts from Pats haters stay on the site but even level headed posts responding to the hater drool get deleted or never gets by the moderator. I know this first hand.

Yes, and it's sad. It never used to be that way before the Internet.

Just imagine how much worse it would be to have Florio defending the Pats!

(When it started as an explicit rumour site and no more, PFT was well worth reading. When Florio started thinking that he was an expert on football, law and morality it went downhill -- he simply revealed himself as what Clonamery so aptly calls him.)

This is BS. Word was Pioli was against drafting Maroney and Chad Jackson. So exactly how is Pioli there any different. And at this point, I bet Caserio has as much power as Pioli ever had.

I just added my .02

did florio just poop him out one day?

This is 100% accurate, although I would clarify it to say the people who seek middle ground aren't ridiculed, they are ignored (which is even worse). In the media, it is better to be the object of ridicule than to be ignored. The problem is we, as sportsfans, claim we want to see X but we reward Y. A clear minded, level headed, intelligent reporter doesn't get anywhere near as much attention as the loud mouth, ignorant wretch.

How many times do we see people in here complaining about Felger or Borges or Shank Shaugnessey or Massaroti? It's because those guys are deliberately controversial and deliberately get people as riled up as possible, and then laugh themselves all the way to the bank when we respond.

I don't know why everyone is taking exception to this. How many Superbowls have we won since Pioli left? I, for one, would love to see him come back.

What pisses me off is Florio being "legitimized" by his affiliation with NBC.

I just saw Reiss's summary of Peter King's column today (thanks Mike, saved me the click). King brought up the no-Pioli/checks-and-balances angle, so I'm guessing NBC coat-tailed on that. Guess that will be the next Pats-Hernandez meme since the "Patriots have lost their Way" schtick has played out (after being used by about 500 or so writers).

That's more or less what happened. That was King's quote and they just made it a headline. Have to say I can't wait for camp to start so some of this stuff can start getting buried. Hernandez is in jail and he's not part of this team anymore, so I'm getting a little tired of talking about him. Not to mention all the hindsight that everyone seems to have on this whole situation - it's ridiculous and just exhausting.

I'll be glad when things start moving more toward the players in camp and away from all the controversy off the field. It's getting old

So it's a media (Editors and/or Publishers) conspiracy? Trying a new angle: get more clicks, etc.?

I have to keep remembering that it's just a game that's a big business.

No reason to think he couldn't do some good, but the team has clearly improved their player acquisition a great deal since Pioli left. The "how many SBs?" question is really a non sequitur.

It is Peter King who got the ball rolling, not Florio. And I love King's logic here. From his article:

1. If I were New England owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick, I'd be asking my security people (and I am sure these questions are being asked now), "Are you telling me you knew nothing about Aaron Hernandez off the field? You're telling me your moles in the Boston Police didn't tell you anything about Hernandez a year ago, when a car Hernandez rented was the car of interest in a double murder in Boston? You're telling me you never heard anything about Hernandez and the people he was associating with -- because he sure wasn't hanging with Tom Brady?'' I know the Patriots can't tail 53 guys. Or one. But the organization seemed to have dropped all suspicion in the last couple of years about a guy so many teams questioned before the 2010 draft -- a guy who had very few close friends on the team, and who always seemed to go his own way when he left the facility. Kraft has to know that if Belichick is going to continue to draft from college football's All-Risk Team, he'd better improve the quality of private eyes he employs.

It was my understanding that evidence found in relation to the Odin Lloyd murder was what pointed Boston Police in the direction of Hernandez for the double homicide last year and before that evidence was found, he was not a suspect.

Another hindsight is 20/20 admonishment from the media.

And also, who knows if Pioli would have been against drafting Dennard or re-signing Hernandez. Dennard was a very good gamble with a 7th round pick and even if he is cut tomorrow, he did more than anyone else the Pats could have draft would have probably done.
