Amen, Preach it... Can't stand disloyalty... Like those who, i dunno, rooted for another team for a few years, then pop back up on the Pats bandwagon... those types definitely need to have a meet up with Mayo's bat, right?
Halleluja brother, all these bandwagon fake fans calling out the Krafts/Mayo were nothing but Belichick sycophants. Some were rooting for Bill to go to the Jills so he could sweep Mayo twice a year. Sickening.

Poor bastards now have to see their idol publicly humiliated after losing at home to the Rats. It's not getting any better for them. A lot have slithered under a rock where they belong. Good ridance.

I think we brought a cat in the bag didn't get what we paid for. I don't think Juju will get any faster he's heading for his floor I want to Triple dip in FA and the Draft @ WR.
JuJu's Schroedinger's cat after they open the box and find it's dead.

AND THEY STILL CaRp AbOuT iT... PlEAsE CloSe OuR sPecIAl fORums Boo Hoo Hoo... too funny, what are they, three??? good lord knows, whack, right up side the head... Love a good cracked egg amirite?

I am beginning to understand the delay. Mayo may be getting turned down by his first and second choices.

In the case of the special teams coordinator from Atlanta, the patriots were only offering him a lateral move. He may have just preferred to stay with Atlanta and work for the new coach with the same title.
This makes complete sense and i very reasonable and I do not hold anything against Williams for interviewing before he knew who the new head coach at Atlanta would be and if Morris would want to bring him back.

What in the ever-living **** are you two going on about lmao

As for the topic at hand, it'll be interesting to see how coaches get drawn in. I've not paid much attention to how bad teams find their coaches. I wonder what Mayo can leverage to entice others.

I'd quit with the thunder **** tho lol. As an outside coaching candidate, I'd be kinda like "....yeah that's some weird ****."

I hope they use some cap space to dump some notorious salary's Juju's come to mind. Just eat the dead money no need to keep the deadwood.
Just dumb. He’ll be a year removed from surgery and be the same player he was for KC last season, which will make him worth the reasonable money he’s being paid.

They need a QB, Mac sucked dcks… it’s hard to pass when your QB sucks dcks.

We have to convince the free agents,
I want Pittman, MJH and Bo Nix offense would go from a weakness to immediate strength.

Otherwise it’s Caleb or Jayden, something about Maye scares me I can’t put my finger on it.
They have the get the QB position right, that much we can all agree on.

I suggest a poll of NFL players to see how many think that Boston is a great place to raise your kids.
You obviously haven’t seen schooling in other parts of the country.

Cmon, folks thinks that Boston and the patriots are so great that anyone should take any job offerred.

To understand, just google "why many NFL players don't want to come to Boston"

Well ... that's not really a fruitful search ... sounds good ... but your free throw clanged the rim.

mayo had a head start on making a list of potential assistants since he knew prior to 2023 that he'd be the hc within a year or two. i wonder who all is on the list?

Yeah… a link on google to one WEEI video doesn’t make something factual or accurate.

In 2021 the Patriots had the largest free agent haul in the NFL. Strange considering nobody wants to come to NE.

Your theory is a myth, players follow the money.

January 17 RKK announced Jerod Mayo as the 15th head coach in the history of the New England Patriots... And since then, we have had two coaches leave, and the rest are kinda in limbo... staying, going? who knows

Not only do we not know who is going to coach, but we don't know who will be running the ship on the personnel side of the ball... Matt Groh? Eliot Wolf? Someone new? We've heard nothing about this vital role yet... not even a peep on the rumor mill... Maybe this starts to shake itself out now that we know BB is not going to Atlanta, or, really, anywhere else... Groh committed to the Patriots? or has he been working with one foot out the door, waiting on the BB decsion? Is Wolf in the same boat? Its getting late in the hiring cycle... Its time we get some clarity on the direction this football team is going to take...

As for the coaches, over the past few days, I have posted that the Patriots OC position was a desirable job... The number 3 overall pick, the statements of Coach Mayo about "burning some cash" combined with the limited number of openings in the NFL for the OC position... Based on reports over the last few days, it appears that my assessment of the situation at hand is wr-wr-... hmm.. is incorrect. It appears that The lack of weapons on the roster & the promise of the a future QB at #3 is hampering the effort to replace BoB as the OC... It is unknown if Mayo has offered the job to any of the candidates he has interviewed, but so far, there has been zero movement on replacing the OC... This has got to change... as more and more head coaches are hired, many of the guys we think we should hire are getting snapped up by other franchises... Time for Mayo to make a decision.

As for the DC role, I think most of us know it looks like DeMarcus Covington will get the job... I'm fine with the move because i think consistency on the defensive side of the ball is important... the defense has been the mainstay of the team over the past few seasons... no reason why that shouldn't continue with Covington in place... I would like to hear that the position coaches on defense are returning, but i think its more inportant to solidify DC role first with an official hire... Why wait? That way the rest of the staff of the defensive side of the ball can be solidified...

The one coach i would like to keep here, tied to the defensive side of the ball, is Steve Belichick... He gets ragdolled a bunch because technically hes a first generation nepo coach... think its a bit unfair because at this point he has a dozen years in the NFL and has turned out to be a good coach... Promote him, give him the Assistant Head Coach title, then make him your senior defensive assistant to work with Covington... As Mayo pointed out in his presser, titles are important... Doing this really re-enforces the continuity on defense...

Lastly, the Pats need to be aggressive in Free Agency... they need to fill the holes in the roster, especially at the skill positions... The earlier the role of OC is filled, the sooner the work can begin in free agent player evals... The top two free agents out there by all accounts are Tee HIggins in Cincy & Michael Pittman in Indy... Either of these two would go a long way to help bring the quality of the offensive weapon skill set back up to par... I don't think either are enough to put them over the top but either will really help... We need to optimize the player selection process by actually hiring some coaches so we can being tampering early, and hopefully often...

Agree with all of this, but I think Pittman is going to get overpaid. I think that Belichick being in flux has contributed to the uncertainty, but it’s becoming clear he’s not getting a job this offseason, and that frees everyone to do what’s best for themselves, and in a way buys the Patriots some time, as some of those who may have been tempted to follow him will now need a job. They have also had to wait until the 21st to interviews many candidates to abide by the Rooney rule.

It looks like front office is set, as they haven’t been looking for a GM, and I think we will see the defensive side of the ball set very soon. OC is the big question, and if they aren’t going to go with a younger guy then MacDaniels makes sense, but only if he isn’t planning on leaving to go work for Belichick in a year. If that’s his plan then look elsewhere. I do think the Krafts are going to push Mayo to seriously consider bringing MacDaniels back, as they are obvious fans if his, and it adds veteran coordinator experience to an offense that needs a clear focus and direction.

Great point. If Jonathan and Mayo weren't on top of this all year, what were they doing?

I don't know the Chiefs assistant coach situation but I'd look there first for an OC who has somehow adapted Reid's thinking to his own. Reid still designs the most impressive plays in football. He doesn't have any scheme and he never has. Maybe early West Coast Bill Walsh defines him, given his background? But he plays it differently. I call it a heterodox offense that just takes advantage of space and levels. It's the way offense should be played. I'm basing this idea on the simple fact of football: there isn't much new under the sun, so we're going to throw it to where you ain't.

I under appreciated Reid for years, but his stint in K.C. has shown him to be a first ballot HOF coach. I wonder if Mayo can get him to be his OC?
