and as I replied to that poster...
we have to wait on the official numbers, but taking Andrews to 2 years most likely lowers his cap hit this year, making the point moot.
also, the cap spending is a 3 year average, not year over year.
Low balling your team captain in an offseason you were voted the cheapest franchise in the NFL is dumb and detrimental to the team... and you're just guessing on contract details at this point.

you are talking about Andrews like he is a free agent (he is not), he is under 30 (he is not) and he is great (he is not)
he is a solid vet and team leader who could get a bump this year with out doing something stupid financially.
reports are a 2 year deal, of course this years cap number will be lowered.

You know darn well the last year of any contract is the contract year, very often these deals are short on cash because teams moved cap around to clear space a year or so earlier due to need.

Bottom line is don't become a cheapskate with a career Patriot and team captain simply to save a few measly dollars when you were just voted the cheapest franchise in football. It's a terrible look and sends a bad message to your locker room.

It's ironic how you are the king of "the cap doesn't matter" but you want to scrimp and save when it comes to providing security by simply guaranteeing the salary of one our longest tenured and best players.
