Really feels like they think Mac and Bill were the problem and not the roster.
Much love for Andrews ... great captain and stand-up guy.
Excellent at calling out protections as he surveys the defense.
I like how Wolfe is securing leaders for the units ... he is certainly this.
That being said we got hammered up the middle last year ....
Our QB's had one of the league's worst times to get rid of the ball.
2nd worst at 2.46 seconds .... is what it is.

Tough guy, eh? How impressive.Good center.
But we could do better.
Overall I'm fine with this, considering its a one year bump.
The overall culture and military-like structure was a bit past its shelf life eitherReally feels like they think Mac and Bill were the problem and not the roster.
thelonious, That's an incorrect assumption on your part.Tough guy, eh? How impressive.
Yes. We see bent Trent week one.. I expect judon and Jennings to wreak havoc against him. That because they weren’t going to keep either when the year ended.
It was. Some fans constantly forget that. Everything in life has a shelf life. That style only works when you win. This generation of players is far different from Brady's generation. The overall culture and military-like structure was a bit past its shelf life either
I'd like the team to extend peppers. Guy is everything you want in a leader. I can see him getting an extension similar to Andrews. He's 29.. so I can see a 2 yr extension for pepp.I think it’s more about keeping solid vets around while they rebuild where they need to. None of these deals have any long term impact, and pretty much all of them will leave no dead money when they move on from them.
Heh. Could be. I thought I felt a hot flash earlier this morning as well.thelonious, That's an incorrect assumption on your part.
What's the first thing I said? Good player.
And yes, he could be replaced by a better player, but for now he will do.
Go take some midol. You obviously have a cramp in your brain this morning.
Good question in the context of Onwenu's deal. But these two guys were always the locks to start if healthy. There's an outstanding competition at OL in camp this year to look forward to evaluating. If the OL coaching staff is capable, the Patriots could wind up with an above average line. Okorafor is a good lineman who is penciled in as a starter and will compete for that starting job.after signing David Andrews is Jake going to be cut?

Very true. Rodney played until about 36, McCourty 34 for example. I can see a 3 or 4 yr deal. He's part of the culture of this team and he's an ALL PRO level safety in this league. The only concern I have about the D is the FS position. Peppers and Dugger are better up around the LOS, and when they can roam.I would go even longer with Peppers. Unlike CB’s Safeties don’t drop off at 30, as speed and quickness aren’t as important as smarts and positioning. Peppers is really good and I would offer a 3 year deal to him.
I don’t think you’re alone in opinion that having a young stud as a backup is always ideal. I’m just not sure how practical it actually would have been to get that player there. The roster has been pretty bad for the past few years and Andrews was one of their better players. It’s tough for a team with holes all over the roster to really prioritize a backup to one of their best players.Perhaps I'm alone in this opinion, but, not having a young backup Center who can be a plug and play guy at any given moment is unthinkable. Especially considering the last few seasons as Andrews has aged and having a young stud at that position in the pipeline has been borderline malpractice. Perhaps they've been high on Jake Andrews and possibly the UDFA Center from LSU. I know Leverett can play Center. But, for the last few years, Ferenz was our go to backup, that in of itself was horrible.
Im not sold on Jake Andrews as a replacement and wanted Mason McCormack to groom as David Andrew's replacement and backup swing guard. I am very leery of having two rookie linemen (Wallace and Robinson) switching from the right side to the left when they played exclusively on the right side in college. His value extends well beyond whatever his current or anticipated level of play might be. Character is important and should be rewarded. Should we begin looking in earnest for a replacement? Of course. If the new guy is as a good as the old guy and in as many ways, we will be very fortunate indeed.
and as I replied to that poster...I'm going to copy/paste a response by another great poster who already responded to you and provide the link:
"You forget that the pats were around 50 million under the cap before this deal. As of 2021 the cba required teams to be at 90% of the cap as a team minimum and the pats aren’t even close to that, meaning they need to spend or put in bogus extensions with guaranteed money that equals this years cap number to inflate the cap hits and prevent balogna bob from shelling out actual cash. This contract helps with that. Andrews already had a cap number of 8.45 million before this new deal. His new has 8 million in guarantees and still adds the original cap hit to the new deal if they push the guarantees to this year. This allows them to still pay andrews essentially the same amount as his old contract called for this year and work creative accounting to increase the cap hit without actually spending a penny more than he was originally getting. It’s a balogna bob special to try and push the team closer to the cba minimum and still not spend a dime more. I fully expect more “extensions” in the near future to get to the required 90%." - SquishTheFish

Again.... going cheap on a career Patriot, team captain in an offseason you were voted stingiest franchise in the NFL is a bad look. Moreover it's detrimental to your entire team.
