Because the Saints are waiting for the Patriots sloppy seconds as their HC.

I actually believe the Patriots blew that. They could have easily invited a couple active coaches to tick off those boxes even if they never intended to hire them. The screwed that part up.
But, they are being blasted for not getting "new ideas." This is the same crew of people who praised them in the recent past for a friendlier culture. I think Breer in particular is out to lunch. He sounds like he knows what he's talking about without realizing that the process of hiring a new coach for the Patriots entails exactly the kind of organizational changes they are recommending.
I wanted at least 5 other interviews, Moore, Brady, Kingsbury, Lafluer, Cohen.Even if you got a top guy you want, why wouldn’t you interview at least 10 people for the job. Costs you nothing but some of your time and you gain some valuable insight into new ideas and what other teams are doing.

If so, they needed to line them up (ahead of time) & get it done ... Unfortunately, time will probably be of the essence if they want Vrabel. Of course the rules about existing coaches (especially in person) muddies the waters.Even if you got a top guy you want, why wouldn’t you interview at least 10 people for the job. If they were interviewing 14 head coach candidates they would be *****ing about how the Krafts have no clue what they want in a coach.I don't think it's only that, though it's part of it.

I think what they did is better than the Jets and Bears who are getting no criticism. Patriots interviewed 2 guys that want back in the NFL and want their names out there. Jets and Bears Rooney rule guys had no benefit from the interviews, they were solely so those teams could check the box.
We shall see but it feels like a rush to Vrabel. Neither has won a playoff game and Johnson offers better potential for Maye’s development. I’d like to see them meet with him in person.
Because we have a franchise that is known to be archaic league round since we were able to get by doing things one way for a quarter century. Now that the guys who facilitated that are gone, Kraft has no clue how a modern NFL org should be run. He's not the same guy that he was in the 90's studying teams like the 49'ers and Cowboys for how they set up dynasties.Even if you got a top guy you want, why wouldn’t you interview at least 10 people for the job. Winning builds culture regardless. The Chiefs are the top team in the NFL, never finish below overtime in the AFCCG and they have a coach who frankly doesn't care about personalities and the team is filled with headcases. But they win so that's the one thing they are all on board with.I see your point as I've put thought into things as well. What the Patriots need is a culture building HC. Someone that's been there and done it on a high level. Someone who's been at other stops college, NFL ect. What Ben Johnson has as an offensive mind for the wealth of weapons in Detroit he won't have here in NE. Detroit is stacked at RB, WR and TE.. with Vrabel you bring in Josh McDaniels who's a great offensive coach in his own right. Ben Johnson in my opinion is going to go to a place where he's familiar, and that already has a roster that can compete now. That's his own division the Bears all they lack is a good coach.
Absolutely agree. This season made me sorely muss This. What we had in place for a culture for so long.Winning builds culture regardless. So happy we got in on this interview process and and let it pass us by. I know the Patriots gut tell em Ben Johnson but their heart says Mike Vrabel. I cool with either but leaning towards Mike Vrabel.

I would settle for us looking competent one step at a time.
I want whoever helps us competes for super bowls.
I haven't heard a single thing other teams have learned from the other interviews that had anything to do with future success. Do you have a list? Not just a team's saying we learned a lot but what teams actually learned from guys they did not hire in the interview process that actually led to results on the field?Even if you got a top guy you want, why wouldn’t you interview at least 10 people for the job. Not when you'll have your preference Sam.“Interviewed well” does not sound like Pats were “blown away”
Vrabel almost certainly next head coach
I do think other candidates should have been brought in
