The Official Vrabel vs Ben Johnson Discussion Thread

On his Q&A today Bedard said that if it's Vrabel we should hear by end of Monday.

I wonder what guitars Vrabel and Johnson play?

Is Vrabel a Gibson guy while Johnson swears by Fender?
Not sure
But if Kraft does not move on one of them
He will be playing the skin flute

The timing is off for BJ. Even if they really wanted him they can not afford to wait it out up to 4 weeks.

I think the HC choice is going to impact who we draft at 4

For what it’s worth

How so? Even though the NFL allows coaches to interview, it doesn't mean that those coaches are not busy preparing for the playoffs. The Pats treated him as an afterthought compared to the other 5 teams that he agreed to meet with. I don't blame him for not accepting the Pats request if he didn't feel like he had a legitimate chance for the job.

I was joking.

Please let’s start with fresh meat. Grab someone with zero ties to the organization. Grab a high functioning offensive mind to restore this pathetic offense and develop our rookie QB. Big bad Vrabel will do nothing but install discipline, he’ll get annihilated by the X’s and O’s and our offense will suffer

Ben Johnson all the way!

I have been pretty impressed with Donovan Jackson this year but I don't see him ranked very highly, what am I missing.

Total control should be a nonstarter. It doesn't happen anymore and frankly that model stopped working a long time ago. We had an exception because Bill was a super football genius and Tom is the GOAT and they were able to keep it going even when Bill stopped drafting well a decade ago.

If Vrabel can find a renowned GM to come in with him, he's fine (he'd still be my second choice). Full control will be a disaster.
I like basically total control for the right HC.

BB had it and it worked.

In corporate speak, all effective teams are organized in a way that there is one throat to choke when a decision needs to be made or things go bad. GM or coach led depends on who is at the table. I could see a structure where Wolf is responsible for scouting, etc. and Vrabel gets final call on decisions.

Apparently, the guy Ben Johnson would hire to run the offense and to teach Drake Maye the character and attitude of a pro QB is Mark Brunell.

That means Johnson is O - U - T OUT!!!!

We don't need this guy teaching Drake how to be a big blubbering crybaby!
